This datapack allows creating custom "nether portals" with different base materials for use with custom worlds generated from 20w21a+.

For testing this snapshot, create a portal either out of netherite blocks or crying obsidian and light it with either a flint and steel or fire charge.

To setup the datapack, when you are in your main world (e.g. the overworld), run the command /function portals:marking/mark_main_side. Then go to the other world you want the portal to link to and run the command /function portals:marking/mark_other_side. This assumes you can access the world via alternate means such as the command /execute in worldname run tp 0 70 0. You no longer need a preprogrammed world name as was necessary in the last snapshot. Forceloading chunks must be allowed as the chunk (0, 0) will be force loaded in the main world and the other side. Also, potentially a third world if you have the main world a different world from the overworld.

This datapack is still very buggy which is why it's only 70% complete and not 90%. However, it is functional enough to be used in a survival situation. Do Note, you need to be in survival to use the portal. The game will teleport you to the nether instead if you try to go through it in creative mode.

Latest Changes:
  • Fixed a bug with breaking soul fire.
  • Found a bug with stray portals due to multiple functions running in the same tick. Need to fix so that only one runs at a time.
