FastLeafDecay Datapack Minecraft Data Pack

FastLeafDecay does exactly what the name implies, it makes leaves decay faster!

This datapack has no effect on the random tick speed, so your crops won't suddenly grow faster.


How it looks

With TreeCapitator Datapack installed (leaf break disabled):

This datapack does not work when breaking logs in creative mode.

Settings

If you'd like to change the speed of which the leaves decay, you have to edit the chance.json file inside the <datapack>/data/fld/predicates folder.


The default value is 0.015, which means that for every game tick, there is a 1.5% chance for the leaf block to decay. (30% chance per second)


Compatibility

FastLeafDecay works for Minecraft 1.15 and up.


Installation instructions

  1. Download the datapack
  2. Place the zip file inside the datapacks folder of your world
  3. Rejoin the world or use /reload
  4. Enjoy!

I also tried updating the datapack version to "6" but it's still not working. However, I noticed that the very first tree that is chopped down in a world will work properly; however, every tree after that will not decay rapidly.

Hey there. You're right. there was an odd issue where the datapack would stop working after a while. Something about the timing of ticks I guess. It should be all fixed now.

With Minecraft 1.16.5 this isn't working. I have set the predicate to `0.05` (100%) and it still takes a very long time?

how its performance on multiplayer? can apply this to persistent leaves so the custom trees can be chopped completelly?

Sorry for the late reply xD

For every dropped log item it checks once if there are leaves besides it that need to decay. If a leaf block is found it will check if there are leaves around that one. This loop continues until all decaying leaves blocks are identified. It keeps track of the blocks location with an area effect cloud. That's the main performance impact.

You can't edit stuff in zipped folders, unzip it first and then you should be able to.
