GatPack DataPack current version: 1.0

It's not a mod, it's the GatPack! 100% vanilla compatible.

"Whatchu got, Gat?"

I'm glad you asked! I believe this is the first publicly shared Minecraft 1.13 comprehensive vanilla datapack (I'm open to being corrected on that) which goes beyond simply having advancements, loot tables, and recipes. This datapack includes complex functions to add all kinds of enhancements to the vanilla experience, all within the spirit of trying to improve on vanilla playability without altering Minecraft's core gameplay.

Instructions on installing a datapack: here. I recommend unzipping the datapack and placing the uncompressed GatPackDataPack folder in your world's datapacks directory.

♫ GatPack Data Pack ♪ Give the dog a bone ♫

Well, you don't have to give the dog a bone, but...
If you enjoy the pack, please give it some love with diamonds and favorites >^_^<

The GatPack includes (♫ in no particular order I'm more compatible with ♪):

NEW FUNCTIONS:

—Deaths are now mourned by the baying of the wolves (no screen shot for this, you have to experience it).

—Having a compass anywhere in your hotbar will display your facing direction and coordinates.

—Selecting any food item will display how much hunger it satisfies, how much health can be healed by it (saturation), and any other special abilities that particular food may offer (such as poison, hunger, nausea, teleportation, etc).

—In multiplayer, the server will alert other players you are waiting for them to sleep (without singling-out players in the Nether, or The End).

—Selecting a bone will inform you how long you've lived, your death count, and time since your last death. Selecting a bone block will inform the player about the other players on the server as well. Selecting bonemeal will inform the player about the World's age and related statistics.

—Selecting a bow will display your arrow count (so you don't have to waste a hotbar spot just to see your arrows).

—Selecting a clock will display the day count, the time of day, and the current moon phase.

—Having a clock anywhere in your inventory enables the sunset alarm clock, helping you pay attention to the coming night even when distracted underground.

—Having any type of map anywhere in your hotbar will display your current biome.

—Placing a torch in the lower corner of your inventory will enable the torch detector, alerting the player when the light level could drop below 8, and when your torches are too far apart for nighttime safety.

—Custom potions are added to the game, allowing a vast variety of special abilities.

—Did I mention flying (as made possible by drinking the Flying Potion)?

—Did I further mention spectral vision (as made possible by drinking the Spectral Potion)?

—Added server functions to force Realm worlds into hardcore mode when enabled.

—Added server functions to allow nighttime PVP with daytime peace when enabled.

—Added server functions to enable team hardcore competitions when enabled.

—Spiders now can use their spinnerets to spin webs (not very often, or your world will get too webby).

—Armor-stands now come equipped with a user's manual (a click-event book to pose armor stands in survival mode).

—Locked chests are provided extra protections against being broken. How do you lock a chest, you may wonder? Depends on witch chest you mean ;)

—Many unique magic books which cast all kinds of creative spells.

—Added the long-forgotten ruby back into survival play (requires my texture pack to see them, though, which can be found here).

—Added the long-forgotten quiver back into survival play (which also requires my texture pack to see them, found here).

LOOT TABLE ENHANCEMENTS

—Witches may rarely drop uncraftable potions and magical books.

—Luck is now enabled on chest loot tables too (vanilla just has luck on fishing). So, how does one get luck? Depends on witch luck you mean ;)

—Vanilla charged creepers drop heads only from skeletons, zombies, and other creepers. The GatPack enables almost any mob to get its head blown off. Special thanks to minecraft-heads.com for sharing a boat-load of heads for mobs to drop.

RECIPE ENHANCEMENTS

—Enabled all recipes for all players, making the recipe book that much more useful.

—Optimized countless recipes (ok, I could count them, but it's a lot) without unbalancing the default resource requirements. For example, now ANY book can be used to craft a bookshelf, not just a default empty book.

—Enabled previously uncraftable Vanilla items, such as the smooth_stone block, smooth_sandstone block, and smooth_red_sandstone block.

ADVANCEMENT ENHANCEMENT (not just because it rhymes)

—A whole new flow-chart of Gat-ified advancements for players to achieve.

—Expansion of the Adventuring Time advancement to allow players to better track their progress.

—Expansion of the Balanced Diet advancement to allow players to better track their progress.

—Expansion of the Husbandry advancement to allow players to better track their progress.

—Expansion of the Monsters Hunted advancement to allow players to better track their progress.

OTHER THINGS I FORGOT TO LIST

—Well, yeah, if I forgot to list them... but if I remember any, I will add them here for your perusal.

KNOWN ISSUES (pronounced iss-youse, with a lisp)

—Minecraft 1.13.1 has a bug where multiplayer non-admins can't use click-event commands found in books. This makes the magic books witches drop and the armor stand user's manual unusable by the run-of-the-mill riff-raff players on mulitplayer servers. It's a known bug, so hopefully it gets fixed by Mojang sometime soon.

—Minecraft 1.13.1 Realms has a bug where loot tables ignore the set_nbt function, which breaks all custom potion loots, book loots, and mob head loots on Realm servers. It's a known bug, so hopefully it gets fixed by Mojang sometime soon.

You know what? I give up. After I fixed the previously listed issues and got the server to launch, a dozen more errors popped up.
