As soon as I saw the Immersive Portals mod, I knew what I had to do, and so I did it. There's still a few features from my old version I have yet to add in, but this should work just fine in any world. It should work with any new or old world.
Make sure you have "Alternate Dimensions" Enabled as well, or it won't work.
Patch notes:
Version 1.01.00.0:
-- Added survival mode, that adds a fuel bar. This can be upgraded multiple times
-- Added a "spawn here" structure thing. Placing a lapis block with a redstone torch on top, then breaking both will have the TARDIS auto pilot to that location.
-- Added space rifts that fuel the TARDIS when close. Pressing the button on the right side of the console will locate the nearest rift.
-- Fixed bug where you would occasionally clip through the ground when entering the TARDIS
