Bored of the current phantoms? Want a new game mechanic? Want something spookier to spice up your Minecraft world? Manic simultaneously reworks the phantom system while attempting to provide a scary, innovative and challenging gameplay mechanic involving Sanity. Manic also provides new tech, tools, and items themed around Sanity.



👁️ About 👁️

Manic adds Don't Starve inspired sanity systems to Minecraft. Sanity is decreased by staying in the dark, being in deep caves, the Nether, and more, while it's increased by sleeping, eating healthy, being around pets, and so forth. At low levels of sanity, your "inner eye" will open, and at even lower levels, it'll turn green - this means you're in danger of Phantoms and their newfound friends, the Spectres, hunting you down. But it isn't all bad; low levels of Sanity may even prove beneficial at times.



Manic also adds a new branch of tech, and more. The Corpsebloom, the heart of the new tech system, is a new plant made by corrupting flowers that kills undead monsters for the player and produces sanity in the form of Corpse Sap, which can be stored by its cousin, the Corpsegourd, or turned into new recipes and tools called Anirrum and Charonite with the Corpsepitcher. Manic also adds a handful of new items and plans to add much more through its ritual system.

⏰Compatibility Notice⏰
Manic tries very hard to be compatible with other packs but you may encounter some issues.

Actionbar Display
Manic may conflict with other packs that use the actionbar. Packs can set the objective manic.hide_sanity to a value to hide the Sanity bar for that amount of ticks. It currently has compatibility with The Creeper's Code's tea.

Unlock All Recipes
Manic is not compatible with Unlock All Recipes packs. If you wish to unlock all recipes, use the command:
/advancement grant @s through minecraft:recipes/root

Teams
Teams may cause slight issues. Manic has built in compatibility with Smithed.

This small hotfix fixes a few bugs.
  • Podiums SHOULD work properly now. If there are any more issues let me know.
  • If a raycast fails for some reason then it will no longer consume durability/ingredients.

I am having an issue. Idk why but the bar is bugged and it is noclipping inside of my screen and i can see only 6 segments out of 10

Optifine causes this and I don't know why. Optifine is closed source so we can't really figure it out.
Sodium is better and mods like Continuity exist to port its features.

Can I configure in the datapack files how fast sanity is lost or regained per second? can you tell me where in the files i can change the rate of sanity loss or gain. Theres just way too many files to search every single one. second question : Is there a website that covers everything this datapack has to offer? becuz almost no info is given on the bosses and others things. ty

You can read the wiki on github here.
The only boss is currently removed as they're being reworked from the ground up to be in a unique structure too.

As for changing sanity loss you can go to this file:
(datapack) > data > manic > functions > entity > player > sanity > calculate.mcfunction
I would recommend changing line 12 to change the maximum amount of sanity loss. Make the number (3) higher to allow it to lose more per second, or lower to slow it down.

You can also change sanity gain in:
(datapack) > data > manic > functions > entity > player > second_clock.mcfunction
On line 8, you can change the 1 to be higher or set it to 0 to stop passive sanity regeneration.
