This datapack is part of my personal world and attempt to make minecraft more challenging for myself. The datapack has been tested immensly through personal play. The Ravager Grief, shady Zombies and Farm Tremplers parts of the datapack are what add a real level of challenge, while everything else are small world details. This datapack is perfect for an already existing world, and new ones as it immediately affects the world and your progression won't ruin the immersion.


Download the .Zip file and extract, place the contents inside your datapack folder of your world.


This datapack will add the following new procedures randomly every minute:

Spiders and cave spiders will produce cobwebs where they are sitting; making cave exploration and prolonged stay in a world, feel more alive and menacing in the least lit places.

Pigs will turn grass blocks into coarse dirt.

Zombie Pigmen will spread nettherack into stony material and soulsand into dirt & sand material.

Magma Cubes will melt netherrack into magma blocks.

Skeletons will fertilise stone, dirt and gravel with mushrooms and dead corals!.

Creepers will fertilise (coarse) dirt into grass, change (cobble)stone material into their mossy variants including stairs and slabs and lastly leave grass on grass blocks and ferns on gravel.

Ravagers will break blocks around them, making village wall-breaching a thing and generally making raids harder. Obsidian can stop them!

The datapack is highly configurable and you can easily remove any parts you don't like, if you're for example interested in the alive world more than the challenging world aspect.

The previous all work nicely into bringing your cave expeditions to life. Also happens immediately:

Passive land-mobs as well as zombies and skeletons will tremple nearby crops.

All Zombie Variants will remove torches in a 2 block radius square around them. This adds immensly more challenge to the world as your light source is expendible. Personally I boost zombie reinforcements stats (60%) with this and have negative gamma values(-0.39) for my world light. You can change this from the "options" file in your .minecraft folder. Neither the reinforcements nor shadows are on this datapack.

All Zombie Variants will wither saplings to dead bushes.

Bug Report

I will be grateful if you report anything you might find working odd with this datapack, so I can quickly publish fixes.

I like most of the edits, except for pigs turning grass into coarse dirt, and creepers turning stone into mossy stone, and lastly the ravagers, I work hard on my villages, don't want them to get all missed up ya know? Can we get a version of this without those changes?

Really love the concept of this! I hope when I try it out later it works fine, I think I’m going to pair it with this other data pack that makes mobs tougher below Y=50, I think it will be a good combination. Anyway please don’t stop updating this and adding more stuff. If you need any ideas I have a ton so just ask!

Suggestion: Perhaps you can make it so that the Wither does more than just break through blocks? Perhaps a withering effect on the surrounding area for about 15 blocks or so? Dead grass, dead shrubs, dead coral, animals near him get the Wither effect in general, and anything with a "dead" counterpart just turns into said counterpart as to replicate the idea that he's rotting everything around him?

I love your mod! one issue though, zombies can destroy torches through walls, they were walking around outside my house and the torches inside got destroyed.

I haven’t tried it on a multiplayer setting, though I think it might need some tweaks before being bug-less there when it comes to the interval functions. But I’d predict the “grief” aspects work fine

Okay I'll try it on my server and tell you how it works then.

Btw, I was looking for a datapack that makes spiders to produce cobwebs. This is the right one.
