Introducing: Fishing Extended!

Features:


- Adds more items to fish!
  • Items are designed to make fishing more exciting, while keeping the fish count for those fishing for it.
Available items to fish:
- New "Ocean Items" category - things you sometimes find in the water:

More about the trade-off system:
Treasures caught always falls on one of these Categories:
Temporary Powerhouse:
  • Lots of powerful enchantments
  • Often full on durability
  • Guaranteed Curse
  • Enchantment never contains Mending
Humble Beginnings:
  • No curses whatsoever
  • May contain Mending
  • Is often damaged
  • Enchantments aren't often powerful
Category:
Pros:
Cons:

Exceptions:
- Stone Tools are always Temporary Powerhouse, but without the cons.
- Iron Tools and Chainmail Armor: Enchantments can contain Mending if landed in Temporary Powerhouse.
- For Enchanted Books: You may either have a super powerful book, or 3 separate books, but each of them are not as powerful.
- Other items are balanced with chance (better items has less chance of occuring).
- More Junk too, because why not:

- New Fishing Surprises:
  • Added a chance to catch a whole school of fish when fishing!
  • Added a chance to catch a Fishing Crate full of goodies!
  • There's more, but it's supposed to be a surprise, so that's all I'm telling!

- Fishing Crate contents are completely randomized.

- Rebalanced AFK Fishing:
  • AFK Fishing still gives you everything from regular fishing, but you get treasures less often.
- Works well with my other datapacks!
- Works in Multiplayer!

This description admittedly doesn't show you everything about the pack, but instead shows you just enough to hopefully try the pack out, and enjoy the little "secrets" I'd made to make it as fun as possible without deviating too much from vanilla fishing.
This also has a side-effect where you'd be surprised by some of the experiences you'll find when fishing with the pack that might otherwise be spoiled if I'd followed the original description plan. Which is always lovely to see.

Got a lot of new things I wanted to add for this release.
Development news can be found on Discord, as well as updates to other packs in the Series. It'll take a while, but hopefully it'll be worth the wait.

It's coming, but it'll take a while.

I'm updating the entire Collection to add new features and overhauls everything since I kinda had to after the major breaking changes added since 1.20.5.

Once all that's done, the PMC posts will all receive an overhaul to cover all the new bits. I got a lot I wanted to add, but adding all that takes time.

How does the AFK fishing loot adjustment work ? I scanned the datapack and found the karma_start and the loot change, but not how it detects the afk

history
This just uses the game's open water principle for simplicity sakes.
Primarily because when people talk about the AFK fishing nerf this is what they meant, so having a special method for this kind of detection ultimately confuses everyone involved.
Fishing Karma was designed to see if the active players are really active, or are just using some ways to work around the open water principle. And having something that requires multiple different actions while also being easy to do (milk drinking in this case) is a pretty good way to pull this kinda thing off.

Hey man! I love this datapack so much, it really rounds out the fishing system and balances it with cool additions and rare things which make it a lot of fun to play with. One thing though, I really wanna know when you'll update this pack to 1.21? I feel like it would fit in really well, and I hope youll try and do this soon.

I've recently updated the toolset used to help me maintain this and 19 other projects (with more soon) to 1.21. So it's coming pretty soon now.
