Random Item Giver

In this datapack, you get a random item every 15 seconds!
You can also modify the timer and the items you're able to get!

This datapack is really simple, but I hope you like it!
You can update it yourself and edit the code. I will try to update this datapack for every stable minecraft version and maybe some snapshots.

A: Yes, it is. Every x seconds every player on the server gets a random item.

Q: What items are you able to get?
A: Every single one in the game as of version 1.20.4.

Q: Does this work with the newest version of Minecraft?
A: Yes, it does! It is confirmed to work with up to 1.20.4 and possibly higher. I always try to keep it up to date.

Q: How do I change the time you get an item?
A: You can change the time in the settings which you can access through the menu or with /function randomitemgiver:menus/settings

Q: What versions of Minecraft is the datapack available for?
A: Here is a list of all versions that are or were supported:

Please note that I most likely won't backport the datapack to older versions as it utilises a lot of 1.16+ features and porting them into an older version is really time consuming and would need a lot of modifications.

hi, this datapack is really cool, but i want to know if its possible to set the amount of time it takes to give you items on a command block, as im trying to play this with my friends on a challenge server, and one of the gamemodes is called rapid. just wanted to know if you can set the time using command blocks, thanks :)

Not by default, no. You'd need to add the mod items manually, for example using the Random Item Giver Updater.

I tried using this data-pack in a 1.19 single player world with optifine. At first, it only gave me some items until I changed the code in some of the files from minecraft:item to item. This is because the grouped items (both potions, arrows, enchanted books, paintings and goat horns) all worked and said item, whereas the other items didn't work and said minecraft:item. This worked as intended at first until I wanted to changed the settings so that I can get spawn eggs. Ever since I changed it, I can't get it back to normal and now doesn't work at all even if I download the pack again and painstakingly change all the files. I've tried fixing it in many different ways, and reloading it. The function commands also don't help at all. I have no idea what to do now especially since it worked at one point so it's not the update or optifine I'm using that's causing it to not work. If anyone knows how to help, please let me know.


Edit: I'm just messing around with a new world which gives me items every second and found out it pauses when I enable spawn eggs but unpauses when I disable them. Is this a mistake in the code? If so could you tell me where abouts it is in the code so that I can change it myself without downloading the data-pack again?


Edit 2: It didn't take long to find out that the spawn eggs button was just a pause button it and the spawn eggs items are in the main items folder. I'm assuming you removed the spawn eggs folder without removing the command. Anyway, it works now, only wasted 6 hours trying to fix it. :)

The spawn eggs file was never removed and still exists in the datapack. Are you sure that you are using my version of the datapack?

This sounds like a very weird issue. Can you ensure that you're using the right version of the datapack for your MC version? If you're on 1.19.4, make sure the datapack version is 1.3.4. I'd also appreciated it if you messaged me on discord so we can sort this out, as I've never heard of this issue before. My discord name is seeloewen.
