Reservoirs is a datapack that adds a way to store fluids in inventories as an item and autofill option for blocks that use fluids.

Using this datapack with a recipe unlocker datapack is NOT recommended.

How to install:

- Download reservoirs-v1-2.zip and put it into your save file's datapacks folder. Can be both added before or after the world generation. If you put after world generation, please run /reload command. A message will be displayed when installed successfully.

Don't forget to download the resource pack!

How to use:

- Hold the reservoir in your offhand. In Empty(output) mode, it will try to empty itself to the mainhand item. In Fill(input) mode, it will try to fill itself from the mainhand item. The reservoir should be empty or have the same fluid.
- Right click to change the mode.
- If you want to delete the stored fluid, right click while sneaking to delete.
- Hold in your mainhand to change the mode or delete the fluid.

There are 6 different types of reservoirs:

- Reservoir: Can hold 8000 mB of a fluid
- Improved Reservoir: Can hold 16000 mB of a fluid
- Hardened Reservoir: Can hold 32000 mB of a fluid
- Advanced Reservoir: Can hold 64000 mB of a fluid
- Extreme Reservoir: Can hold 128000 mB of a fluid
- Ultimate Reservoir: Can hold 256000 mB of a fluid

- Please check the images for the recipes.

- There are also new advancements added with this datapack. Complete them for various rewards!

Upgrading Existing Reservoir:
- Drop the reservoir and the required item on top of a smithing table.

- Reservoir + Gold Block = Improved Reservoir
- Improved Reservoir + Emerald Block = Hardened Reservoir
- Hardened Reservoir + Diamond Block = Advanced Reservoir
- Advanced Reservoir + Netherite Ingot = Extreme Reservoir
- Extreme Reservoir + Nether Star = Ultimate Reservoir

2 Update Logs

Version 1.2 - Improvements : 10/29/2020 2:16:22 pmOct 29th, 2020

- Reservoirs no longer requires Optifine for custom textures.
- To update to the new textures, just change the mode of the reservoir. New texture will be applied automaticly.
- Advancements now also trigger if stored fluid amount is higher than required value, instead of checking for the exact requirement.

Is it possible to directly consume stews from the reservoirs?

Nvm, I have discovered that it cannot be used for anything at this time. The reservoir craft and achieves work, but there appears to be no method of putting fluid in them. Including through crafting table or tossing on smithing table.

No, you can put fluids inside of them.

Make it "Fill" mode and hold it in your offhand. When you hold something in your mainhand, its gonna suck the item you are holding and store inside. You can store 32 mushroom stews in 1 item and its even first tier reservoir.

To fill back, make it "Empty" mode and hold it in your offhand. After that, every time you hold a bowl in your mainhand, it is gonna fill the bowl. This way you can eat from 1 bowl continuously until you run out of mushroom stew

Thank you for this response. I was following the 'crafting' recipes, as written, and they didn't work. I saw the part about upgrading, so tried that method.

This is a really nice mechanic that I wanted to implement in our family server, but the combining was confusing.

Would you be willing to update the description to show that the crafting works with this offhand/mainhand mechanic? It might make it clearer for future users.

Keep up the good work, your packs are very interesting. :)

I'm curious, is there a way to make them usable directly? As in picking up/placing fluids from the world or cows, or consuming fluids directly from them.

I tried to implement that. I was planning to make main item as a bucket so you could pick up water, lava and milk, but doing that unfortunately removes all the data from the bucket, making it vanilla bucket.

I tried my best, but maybe Mojang adds a feature in the future so I can actually revamp the whole datapack and make it work nicely and without confusion.
