--The Middlelands--

The Middlelands - a Dimension Between the Nether and Overworld (1.21.4) Minecraft Data Pack

Between the Nether and the Overworld lies a dimension that few have gone to: The Middlelands. The Middlelands is a cave/mining dimension with massive oceans of lava, lush and mushroom forests, large swathes of ore, and much more. This new dimension has five different biomes to explore and now works with multiplayer. As I was unable to get portals to work, you must craft a one-time use teleporter to get to the dimension, and a one-time use overworld teleporter to get back.

Ruined Tower Map Recipe - Must be crafted in the Overworld

The ruined tower is where you find the Middlelands teleporter, it is a somewhat rare structure that is found in practically every Taiga biome (this includes the old growth and snowy Taiga biomes, but seem to most commonly be located in the normal Taiga biomes)

Ancient Tower Map Recipe - Must be crafted in The Middlelands

The ancient tower is a rare structure in the Middlelands jutting just above sea level filled with monsters and loot (it's a dungeon). It comes in two variants.

Biomes:

The Barren Delta

The barren delta is a hostile biome reminiscent of the Nether's basalt delta's. Due to its similarity to the Nether, Nether mobs have inhabited the biome making it the most dangerous biome in the Middlelands. Beware of the wither skeletons, numerous magma cubes, and occasional ghast whilst exploring this biome.

The Dripstone Cavern

The dripstone cavern is a somewhat hospitable biome in the Middlelands, being home to basic Overworld mobs. It is very similar to the Overworld's lush cave biome, just being much more capacious. Water is common, and along with that the glow berries and mushrooms make for a half-decent source of food. Although it's not that dangerous, creepers are very fond of this biome so beware. This biome is great for gathering gunpowder however, required in the TNT recipe and more importantly in the Overworld teleporter recipe.

The Lush Cavern

The lush cavern is the most hospitable biome; the only hostile mob is the occasional slime. Although this biome shows some similarity to the nether (mainly just the warped and crimson fungi that grow sparingly) no nether mobs inhabit this biome. There are small clumps of sand that are spread over the biome, which is essential for crafting TNT, as it is required in both the Overworld and Middlelands teleporter. Overall—just barely being better than the mushroom cavern due to the abundance of wood—this is the best biome to build a base in.

The Mushroom Cavern

The mushroom cavern is the second most hospitable biome, and like the lush cavern, the only hostile mob is the slime. Slimes are slightly more common here than they are in the lush cavern, but still aren't overly common. Although there is a lack of wood, the mushroom cavern makes food seem like a minimally important issue: mushroom stew is the best food source in the Middlelands.

The Dark Cavern

The dark cavern is the second least hospitable biome, as it's home to countless endermen and the occasional horde of zombies. There is no natural light source (except for the massive ocean of lava) so if you want to build in this biome be sure to light it up. Although it is dangerous ender pearls are a necessary component for both the Overworld and Middlelands teleporter.

I wanted to add this datapack to a server with my friends but it's sad to know that it's not supported yet, I hope you'll fix it asap! :c

After commenting that I would get it working in a week I totally forgot lol. I then stopped making datapacks and resourcepacks for a while as I got bored of it, but I'm back again and now its finally working in multiplayer (although I doubt that your smp is still up or active). If you experience any bugs (especially in multiplayer if by some chance you are still playing on the smp) as of the new update then just dm me on planet minecraft.

Would this work with the Dimension stacker mod?

I don't know any dimension stacker mods for 1.20.5 or 1.20.6, and I have not used a dimension stacker mod with a datapack so I'm unsure if it will work. If it detects the dimension when your stacking your dimensions (ofc you would have to activate the datapack first) then it should work fine.

I like it! I do think that some biomes should use more nether like blocks in them, like lush cavern having warped foliage or dark cavern using some blackstone, but I quite like it!

Yeah as of right now the dark cavern is somewhat boring and I will likely make some changes to it. The lush cavern on the other hand (imo) is almost perfect and needs little change, however I might very well add warped foliage, just make it somewhat uncommon like the giant mushrooms of that biome.
