Overview:

This pack is aimed to build off of the pre-existing feature Mojang created of certain mobs dropping their heads when killed by a charged creeper, and now have every mob (and mob variant) drop their heads when killed by a charged creeper. There are hundreds of heads to collect!

Note: Mob heads added in this pack are only obtainable when those mobs die from a charged creeper. There is no looting chance of obtaining these heads (with the exception of wither skeletons).

How to install/uninstall:

To install: place the compressed .zip file of this pack into the datapacks folder of your saved world. You do not need to extract anything.
To uninstall: run the function
/function commands:uninstall

Features:
Overall: general list of features with this pack:
  • 427 custom mob heads included
  • Support for most unsupported mobs
  • 467 custom advancements
  • Unique Player Head drops
How to Obtain Mob Heads: how you can get these customs heads in your world.
  • A mob needs to be killed by a charged creeper explosion.
  • The mob killed must be an adult variant of that mob.
  • The user/player needs to ignite the charged creeper using a flint and steel in order for a mob head to drop from a mob killed in this fashion.
  • Note: Only one mob head can drop from any given charged creeper explosion; if multiple mobs were killed this way, only one will drop a head.
Mob Heads: the unique heads of every mob and each of their variants has been added in this pack.
  • There are 426 unique mob heads to collect!
  • Certain mobs have different head variants to collect.
  • Each villager type and profession has their own unique head which shows the details of new 1.14+ villager models.
  • All of the unique zombie villager heads have been added as well.
  • Certain mobs, if wearing armor, will drop their head with their helmet texture on the head.
  • While the Ender Dragon’s head can be found on End Ships, the Ender Dragon will also drop its head when killed by a charged creeper.

  • The Killer Bunny: rename a White Rabbit to “Killer Bunny”, and it will transform into the Killer Bunny mob.
  • Zombie Horse: rename a Skeleton Horse to “Zombie Horse”, and it will transform into the Zombie Horse mob. You will be able to ride them if you give them a saddle!
  • Illusioner: rename an Evoker to “Illusioner”, and it will transform into the Illusioner.
  • Note: names are case sensitive, you will need to capitalize letters like shown above.

Colorful Shulkers: there is now a way to get colored shulker mobs in Minecraft Java Edition, similar to Bedrock Edition.
  • Rename a name tag to the color that you like, then rename the shulker mob.
  • For example, if you want a red shulker mob, rename a name tag “Red” and the shulker mob will instantly turn red.
  • If you want to get the default shulker color back, rename the shulker to “Light Purple”.
  • Note: names are case sensitive, you will need to capitalize letters like shown above.
Advancements: there is an added tab on the Advancements page that will show up shortly after starting your game. You can use this page to track your progress collecting every head!
  • There are overall 467 advancements to complete!
  • There is an advancement for every mob head and each of their variants.
  • All of the advancements are organized into categories, which will make it easier to find certain heads.
  • The advancements at the start of each category will count each head that you collect, so you can keep track of how many more you need to collect. There is also an overall count to show your progress for collecting all of the heads!
  • There is a special surprise for the player whenever they collect every included mob head :)
  • There are advancements at the end of each category, which are just placeholders so you can always see every head that you can collect. These placeholder advancements are automatically completed.
Player Heads:
  • Players will drop their heads only when killed by a charged creeper!
  • This is the only way for player heads to be obtained in this pack.
  • There are no advancements specifically for obtaining a Player’s Head and they will not count toward the total mob head count under the new advancements tab.
Compatibility:
  • This datapack works in both singleplayer and multiplayer.
  • This datapack should be compatible with most other datapacks.
  • This datapack is compatible with Minecraft versions 1.19-1.19.3
  • *This datapack and most of its features technically work in any Minecraft version 1.16 or above. Mobs from those versions will still drop their heads and count under the advancements tab, but you will not be able to complete all of the advancements.
  • *Any version under 1.16 will be incompatible with this datapack.

ZombsHeads+ v2.0 is now available for Minecraft 1.19! : by Zombie3597 03/06/2023 12:40:19 pmMar 6th, 2023

Happy 3 year anniversary of this datapack! The following is a list of changes in this latest version.

Updates:
  • You can now only obtain one head per charged creeper explosion, regardless of how many mobs were killed in the explosion; in prior versions, all mobs killed in this fashion would drop their mob heads.
  • Updated the UUIDs for all pre-1.16 mob heads and rewards to the 1.16+ format.
  • Added mob heads for each of the new mobs introduced after 1.15. Please check the custom advancements tab to see every obtainable mob head added with this pack. Some new mobs contain multiple head variants to collect.
  • Removed most reward heads achieved when obtaining all heads of a certain variant; updated the reward for obtaining all available mob heads.
  • Updated the nbt tags for all of the cat variants to match the new format.
  • Updated the nbt tag for naming a rabbit "Toast" to match the new format.
  • Updated the nbt tag for naming a sheep "jeb_" to match the new format.
  • Updated method to obtain your player head to confirm only one player head will be dropped.
  • Updated shulker shell drop chances from shulker entities to match Java edition drop rates.
  • Added a way to get colorful shulker mobs into the game, and a way to convert the shulkers back to normal.
  • Added mob heads for each color shulker, coming with two varieties per color.
  • Changed the weights for the 4 possible wither mob heads.
  • Updated wolves nbt values to reflect its updated format.
  • Optimized the method for obtaining unsupported mobs (Illusioner, Killer Bunny, and Zombie Horse) by using an advancement check so the game is not checking for transformations every tick.
  • Added a second enderman head variety in addition to the pre-existing form.
  • Removed the sleeping fox heads as they are no longer obtainable in survival.
  • Removed the zombie pigman head as the mob was removed from the game

Bug Fixes:
  • Fixed bug where a rabbit named "Toast" would sometimes give you the wrong rabbit head.
  • Fixed bug where a "The Killer Bunny" may drop a white rabbit head instead.
  • Updated the Jungle Butcher Zombie Villager mob head to match the correct texture.
  • Fixed bug where certain categorical advancements would not be announced to chat when completed.

Additional Notes:
  • The two enderman heads included in this datapack are currently unobtainable in 1.19.3 due to a bug that prevents endermen from taking explosion damage. Enderman head drops will work in 1.19.2 and below, and this bug has been patched in the 1.19.4 pre-releases. As a result, they will still be included in this datapack.
