I've been thinking of updating my Bloodluster datapack, and it's going to have better animation and improved code so it's cooler :) But then I realized something - the texture is disgusting. So, I am once again asking for your help with this guy, this time to give em a cooler texture. (You will, of course, be credited in the datapack)

Can I just save the texture image and edit it in an editing program, or does this need to be in BlockBench?

You should make the skin an animated texture like prismarine so it glistens a bit.

You can find a simple tutorial on youtube (or probably on a PMC blog post), but basically you make multiple copies of the same texture and stack them vertically. These will be your animation frames and you should make a few with a pretty smooth transition. You then create a JSON file that lists which order to display frames in and how long to show each one. You can put them all in order (1, 2, 3, 4) or make a loop that fades in and out, like 1, 2, 3, 2, 1.
