Get a background! Use Mineways to convert a map into a model of the map...
If you're getting a "Studio" look thingy (Renders with no background, just poses)... Make the background lighter, dark background doesn't really match the studio renders.

Erm.. well, actually, I kinda already mentioned it. Just get Blender and find/make a good rig, read the instructions (or don't, like I did) and bam. Epic pictures xP
