Bailey stood in front of the bathroom mirror and splashed his face with cold water washing away the dry, lumpy, blood on his face. There people down stairs; what looked like a family, a preacher and some guy who was leading them all. Bailey was sure he saw the sheriff there too but he wasn’t sure, he glanced up at his reflection in the mirror and noticed he was still wearing his radio.

Michael sat in a creaky rocking chair and did maintenance for his hunting rifle. He performed the actions almost mechanically. After years of practice, he could even do it blind-folded.

Michael had little interest in the conversation between the man and boy. He didn't care about the destination or the leader's decisions. All he cared about was survival. Survival of the fittest. Survival at any cost....
