Welcome To Creating A World!
Tips, Tricks, Special Looks Inside Our Maps!

In this guide, we will be referring to some of our most popular maps! We will be giving tips and tricks that we use to help improve our building too! We will share pictures of our maps, the builds, and the command circuits that power them! We hope we can help you improve your skills if that's what you're looking for, and if not, we hope you can learn something new anyway!

Remember: This forum is about our maps, and our tips, everyone builds differently, and that is ok :)

Artifact_282_BigBuilds Build Leader, On Adventure Maps:

Hello, my name is Artifact282! I was the second person to be added to this fun and creative build team. While some of our maps may look hard to build, they may not be as difficult as you think! Something you always want to do is make the maps enjoyable for your players, and one way you do that is by putting yourself in your player's shoes. What I mean by that is you should ask yourself questions like, is this too hard, or does the scale of this build not match the plot? You want to make your builds look good even if your map has a simple plot (story), looks always help.

Starting A World
When starting a world, you should consider what you want to build. Are you creating an adventure/ story map, a PvP map, a Mini-Games map... Once you have chosen, choose a scale, It is very helpful to have a scale in mind when building! Block Pallets are also very important for builds! It can be helpful to set out the specific blocks you want to use for a specific part of your build before you start!

Building
There are many ways to build in Minecraft! Try using blocks in unexpected ways, try out different things until you have something you like! If you are having trouble, you can always look at images, or other builds for inspiration, just never copy completely, make it your own! There are many YouTubers that have tutorials to improve builds as well, check them out!

Open World Maps
Almost all open-world maps are adventure/story maps. If you plan to have a large open space, be sure to vary your terrain! Add trees, bushes, paths, structures... When building adventure story maps be sure to include parts of the story in your builds, let the builds help move the story along! You can also use your builds to create a sense of question, and unknown, add ruins in an area for the players to wonder about.

Use PMC!
Many creators post their maps, skins, and other works on PMC, while copying another work is never ok, using another work to inspire yours is! Be sure to make whatever you build your own, and give credit to the creators who inspired you! PMC also has forums, like this, written by creators that can help you improve your skills, check them out! Check out: Building 101

World Painter
World Painter is a program outside of Minecraft that can be used to create huge custom terrain, which you can then turn into a Minecraft world and edit. World painter takes some work to learn, but there are tutorials on Youtube for you to check out!

A Look Inside One Of Our Maps
The Lost
Island
The Lost Island is our biggest open-world adventure map! In the map, we use our builds to create a story, and books throughout the map to tell the story of an old civilization, that once inhabited the island. For this map, we started with terrain editing, we used structure blocks to paste custom trees around the map to create a dense jungle. We created a massive ocean around the island, and we created a large beach all the way around it. After terrain editing, we created custom structures and locations around the map. Each area adds to the story, the abandoned village, the temple at the center, or the ruined village!

Once the builds were done, we started work on the command block circuit. Commands can be complicated for new players, so creating a fully automated adventure map might not be the way to start, but if you are ready to put in the work, go ahead!

The Lost Island! You can find this map on our profile!

Command Circut
Command blocks can allow you to make your adventure maps so much better! You can automate everything, and create a great experience!
With Command Block circuits, you can, create title and end sequences, create custom boss battles, create puzzles, teleport players, spawn mobs, and so much more!
Learning commands can take a while, but use youtube, and PMC!

This is the Command Circut that runs The Lost Island! Keep your Redstone organized! It also helps to build your restone on wool, or some other block your not using for building, to help keep track!

We hope this forum was helpful! -Bigbuilds Minecraft Build Team
