EDIT: It's Newcraft/Vecter/Novax City . No wonder I could not find it the day before yesterday as it was a minecraft forum map. Feel free to explore the old gem.

These are the most notable features of the map, so I put them in the title. Other notable features include gravel roads, tram tracks, minecart-based elevator.
This map is featured in an (audio warning, kids voices) old runet minecaft serial (reupload). Almost makes it sound like an ARG, lol.
The city is visible at 0 to 0:55 - birds eye view;
Then at (still audio warning) 18:23 from players perspective.
There is also an unintelligible sign at 21:19. Feel free to speculate. Put your answer as a spoiler not to influence others guesses.
To other people who would like to stay on PMC, I could not figure out how to post screenshots here, so you can use your imagination. In the meantime I will be scrolling trough 2012 "city" worlds. I'll update the post if I'd find the city.
I'm certain that this map was not made by the filmmakers as they were struggling with using the minecart elevator in ep.1 (currently lost media).

The first 2 lines probably reads
"Welcome to UTD". I googled it and stumbled upon some old nice technical minecraft maps, but not city.
