I am currently starting an adventure map that will use the new features from 1.8.
This is my first major adventure map that I am not making for a server, so I am curious on what people LOVE seeing in these maps.

hmm how about make special weapons that are more than enchantments i saw dragnoz do it with snowballs=grenades and arrows=elemental arrows and i made a not-working prototype for an ender arrow (teleports mobs to the arrow) that maybe you could correct

I could add the snowball grenades because they are easily made. I am not sure if it will work without blowing up the ground, but still damaging mobs. I can test it though.

Use most of the new features of 1.8! I know you are already doing this, but I really want you to use most of them! I so far haven't seen a map use the new features. The new commands will make your maps look cool, and are actually pretty easy to use once you know what you are doing.

Have you seen the hearts when you breed a mob? Or the TNT explosion smoke? Those are particles.

A good storyline. A storyline can make up lots and make a less then good building/world/other thing seem much better. In my mind anyway. Custom objects and texture packs help too.

I always love to see Organics, Depth, Composition, etc. The things about Adventure maps is that you need a terrain and design to keep people from logging off in the first few minutes and also crazy back stories. An example for the terrain would be say your going back into the dinosaur age, You could make huge trees, vines, mushrooms things bigger than a normal person would expect and then Organics comes into place with the dinosaurs and maybe while your at it throw in a few mini-games on the way. To me adventure maps are a endless way to just show your creativity.

Use @e To Control A Mob While You Play Or Use @e To Make Boss Fights With Carrie Style Powers (The Boss Hovers, And Maybe The Boss Could Hold A Major Ally Captive And Make It So The Ally Gets Teleported A Couple Blocks Away From The Boss In The Chamber, One Step At A Time Until He Reaches The Wall, Then He Gets Teleported Up A Couple Blocks And Stays Up There On The Wall Until The Fight Starts )

Not quite something entirely new like everyone else has suggested, but it would be nice to see someone balance travel/dialogue/parkour/puzzles with fighting. Often, most of the focus of the map will be on combat, which will get tedious. Boss battles, too. If you have a boss battle where the boss just has a lot of health, killing them is going to get tedious. And remember, using puzzles or parkour to activate events that damage the boss can help break up the monotony of combat by adding variety while retaining the original combat aspect.

have a few fun easter eggs, and maybe a custom resource pack. maybe have it so that when talking to NPCs, they will have their own voices, and the things your character says will be displayed in the chat.

I like the idea of GTA. Where you can do what ever you want but the are missions to do and alternate version to endings and what ever you do in the game would effect you later.
