Many species call this galaxy home. A genetic diversity covering the vastness of space, there is bound to be a genetic diversity of ships to compliment this. Many pirates skulk uncharted star sectors, praying on those unlucky enough to pass through such uncharted territories. Many ships are outfitted with FTL drives, making it much easier to get from system to system. There are also space stations, mobile hubs in which people can meet up. Entire fleets of people roam the galaxy. But there are many threats as well.
Few people venture out on their lonesome in this galaxy, those who do usually stay aboard larger vessels, occasionally leaving and roaming. Sometimes, they hire mercenaries to protect them or get ahold of a ship. Other times, they employ the aid of Virtual Intelligences to maintain most aspects of the ship. For the daring, rich, and few others, an on-board Artificial Intelligence will assist as well, learning along the way.
Space ships come in a variety of shapes and sizes, from small single-person shuttles, to large mobile space stations. Most ships are outfitted with equipment such as FTL drives which run on eezo to travel across the galaxy, as well as a gun or two for defenses. But what are those things without armor, shields, and heat vents? While only shuttle-class vessels fail to meet these features, throughout the galaxy there are many classes of vessels.
While most ships fit these classes, there are some that are upgraded to be faster, stronger, etc.
These ships, however, cost money to maintain. FTL drives alone cost anywhere from thousands to billions of credits just to buy. Total costs could range from anywhere from tens of thousands of credits to quadrillions of credits! Fret not, however, credits can be earned in many ways!
Many species dot the vast galaxy, from the human to the mythical S’rhinza. Each species is different in most ways. But not all people fit their stereotypes. Beware, some are known to be unified, and harming one ship may cause an unwanted war. There are too many species to name.
There are many star-clusters as well, most are assigned numbers and some are nicknamed.

The galaxy is a vast place, still wholly unexplored! (This means that I’m too lazy to make up a bunch of places, so that responsibility falls upon you! Screw Open World, this is Open Galaxy! Wooo! … It’s 1 AM.)
Well, events, other info, and possibly a plot are coming soon. Most likely tomorrow, when I actually have ideas and feel productive. This is really a work in progress now, but don’t let that put you down from applying!

1) No God-Modding/Meta-gaming/Bunnying/etc.. Doing so will result in a BAN.
2) At least have a minimum of 5 full sentences per post.
3) I guess small romance between crew members is okay. I’ll have to moderate it though.
4) Everyday forum rules and such.
5) I think that’s it. Almost forgot, GRAMMAR. Have at least half-way-decent grammar.
Applications: Delete the stuff in these: <Delete this>. 2 sentence MINIMUM for each important* crew member. Give me at least two paragraphs regarding the history of your vessel. Etc.
*Important crew members. Like the helmsman. If you have a dreadnought, don’t name all of the hundreds, dozens, thousands, whatever amount, of members. Only name a few, and give 2 sentences. It should be worth noting that if you have a scout ship with 10 members, I want 2 sentences for all ten. So the minimum is 10 members, unless you have a scout ship or a single-shuttle. In that case, give me two paragraphs for the members.

Dreadnought – Usually at the rear of most armadas, dreadnoughts are slow-moving, hard-hitting, heavily-armored and shielded beasts of warfare. Many dreadnoughts have much space for FTL cores, with extra heat vents, as well as large guns that can cut through enemy fleets. Many even contain a deck in which frigates can fit in. Dreadnoughts are usually only used in times of war; however, some pirates manage to gain hold of them.
Cruiser – Going at a medium pace, heavily armored, heavily shielded, and outfitted with automated cannons aboard, Cruisers are about the same size as a dreadnought, however instead of using most of that for guns and other offensive tech, cruisers almost exclusively house smaller vessels. With special cargo bays made to fit dozens of frigates, scout ships, and shuttles, cruisers rely on their cargo to protect them. Cruisers travel within the middle of most armadas, deploying ships as they float gently through space. Some are even outfitted with advanced workshops. Most cruisers have a large space reserved for multiple, functional FTL drives. With a few in a special reserve area in the event the other drives go down. Needless to say, when most cruisers are decommissioned, they are recycled.

Trading is one way to make credits. Just trading every day goods, or even larger more important things!

The Speelmae race is almost completely devoted to knowledge, and each have more capacity in their brains than ten humans together. The primary goal of the race, rather than to conquer each other, is to conquer knowledge. From the second a Speelmae is hatched, they begin a rigorous learning cycle enough to make an Asian cry. As far as his race goes, Spoo is above average, you could say. The learning process of his planet is separated into segments, but nothing so mundane as all learning the same thing at the same time. Because of the day Spoo was born, he was started off learning languages and cultures, and had become fluent in many languages. Though, his age does seem a bit young to know so many languages, true, I'll fix that.

Long ago on the Etherian planet, an extremely rich man ordered a fleet of ships be built for him. A magnificent array of powerful ships were sent to him. However, not all of the order made it it the man. Captain Took, operating from a smaller frigate managed to take a Dreadnought by surprise and take command. The ship took off across the galaxy, leaving a trail of destruction in it's wake.
After recruiting a few trained men, The Breaker became a daunting foe to oppose. Taking down large targets, the crew gained a fair amount of credits, though it's income has not been sheer piracy. Some of it is trading off older parts of the ship as destroyed vessels yielded new resources.
Eventually, as the ship expanded and got more infamous, pirates began to flock there to make shadier deals that it wasn't safe to do otherwise. Welcoming the fellow scum, the Breaker became a powerful center for piracy. It has taken to letting in only people who have a bounty on their heads above 1,000 credits. Anyone else is shot down.

Built into the Breaker itself, Computer has been serving the current owner by storing data, handling complex programs, pretty much anything the ship needs. The mainframe, as seen in the picture, is located in an isolated high security room in the ship, though the computer can be accessed from any terminal, which can be found almost any place on the ship.[/spoiler]

It is an extremely slow ship, if you don't count the small bursts of warp speed it uses when travelling through large areas of space.
The Breaker can take more than it's fair share of hits, as long as it is prepared. When travelling, many armored flaps are open, exposing the ship, but allowing faster travel. When in battle, the flaps close, allowing it to be better protected from damage, though it does take awhile to switch. It has has a forceshield made of harnessed kinetic energy, which allows most projectiles (Photon torpedoes, etc.) More power is diverted to the shield when in battle, and it will, at all times, keep in a regulated level of air, as most entities that are part of the crew breathe oxygen.
The ship is literally covered in high energy laser turrets, and has powerful plasma mortars on the main deck. It's proudest weapon is the ion cannon, though because of how long it takes to arm and fire, it has only seen battle once, destroying a stationary space station.
It has four frigates, mostly kept docked, unless travelling in shady areas of space.

Long ago on the Etherian planet, an extremely rich man ordered a fleet of ships be built for him. A magnificent array of powerful ships were sent to him. However, not all of the order made it it the man. Captain Took, operating from a smaller frigate managed to take a Dreadnought by surprise and take command. The ship took off across the galaxy, leaving a trail of destruction in it's wake.
After recruiting a few trained men, The Breaker became a daunting foe to oppose. Taking down large targets, the crew gained a fair amount of credits, though it's income has not been sheer piracy. Some of it is trading off older parts of the ship as destroyed vessels yielded new resources.
Eventually, as the ship expanded and got more infamous, pirates began to flock there to make shadier deals that it wasn't safe to do otherwise. Welcoming the fellow scum, the Breaker became a powerful center for piracy. It has taken to letting in only people who have a bounty on their heads above 1,000 credits. Anyone else is shot down.

Built into the Breaker itself, Computer has been serving the current owner by storing data, handling complex programs, pretty much anything the ship needs. The mainframe, as seen in the picture, is located in an isolated high security room in the ship, though the computer can be accessed from any terminal, which can be found almost any place on the ship.[/spoiler]

It is an extremely slow ship, if you don't count the small bursts of warp speed it uses when travelling through large areas of space.
The Breaker can take more than it's fair share of hits, as long as it is prepared. When travelling, many armored flaps are open, exposing the ship, but allowing faster travel. When in battle, the flaps close, allowing it to be better protected from damage, though it does take awhile to switch. It has has a forceshield made of harnessed kinetic energy, which allows most projectiles (Photon torpedoes, etc.) More power is diverted to the shield when in battle, and it will, at all times, keep in a regulated level of air, as most entities that are part of the crew breathe oxygen.
The ship is literally covered in high energy laser turrets, and has powerful plasma mortars on the main deck. It's proudest weapon is the ion cannon, though because of how long it takes to arm and fire, it has only seen battle once, destroying a stationary space station.
It has four frigates, mostly kept docked, unless travelling in shady areas of space.

Vessel history: The Mercury V was bought 10 years ago by Rah from a Venation black market salesman, when he first got his Bounty Hunters license. It wasn't the prettiest of ships, but it was all Rah could afford at the time, and it was a pretty good deal being that its stock parts were semi-descent. Over th years instead of discarding the Mercury, and purchasing a new ship, he discovered he could just purchase new parts, and fit them onto Mercury for the same price it would cost to buy a new ship. So then it began every time Rah completed a contract he added a new part, be it a gun or and upgrade on its shield, every kill Mercury got better and better.
Soon Rah had customized the ship to maximum performance, and had one of the best cruisers in the quadrant. Rah had thought of redoing the cruisers outside too, but he had grown on the rust over the years so decided to keep it.

Eve was designed two years ago by an engineer contracted by Srin to create Eve specifically to his liking. Eve is about 100x smarter then the average organic, and is one of the smartest A.I's in the galaxy. Srin payed pretty penny for her, and treats her as if she was an actual person being that she is his only companion on the Mercury while he is out traveling the stars. Eve was unshackled on Srin's request by the very same Engineer who developed her. He advised against it being that unshackled A.I's are unpredictable, but Rah hasn't had any problems so far.

She was quite the merchant vessel, carrying supplies all over the galaxy, and soon enough, Beowulf's father was known as a reliable, and quick, merchant. Upon turning twelve, Beowulf was taken onto the ship, where he found his love of flying. Once he turned fifteen, he heard men were considering a mutiny against Beowulf and his father.
So on his birthday, Beowulf broke into his father's gun vault and took out an assault rifle. He slaughtered the crew and his father, and left only his father's advisor alive. So Beowulf renamed himself, along with the ship, upgraded it, and set off to find slavers and slaves to make some money.

The vessel was found by Crow while cruising around sector 6001127726.
Crow and his crew spotted it from the bridge. The band of pirates could not tell if it was a giant organic life form or a vessel. They flew over in their stolen scout ship. It was small enough to fit just their crew of four and a single weapon plus the FTL drive of course.
They boarded the ship through an airlock on the side. The doors seemed very organic, like sphincters. From the outside it was in pristine condition on the inside of the ship it seemed to be in the same condition of the outside. All the doors worked perfectly. All the systems which seemed to be organic and self regulating. It was abandoned.
That meant it was Crow's crew's for the taking.
