I'm only just starting to develop a style that I like, but a lot of my favorite skins are my simplest ones. Even if you want to do a really well shaded skin, start with something simple and build your design off of that.

I am not very good, but I leave you some generic advice that everyone should follow.

- keep the design simple
-do not use many colors, if you use many colors to make details your skin will look like it has noise.

-Try to use real references.

-do not desaturate the colors to reduce noise, it looks very bad, as if the colors had a gray overlay.
-Avoid making waifus, they do not bring anything new, the page is saturated with them.

-Try to make the shadows just right, don't overdo it.

-use more clothing layer, it will give more depth to your skins.

ok general tips

-no noise

-no using 30k of the same color that look almost no different from the original shade

-contrast yes

-i recomend using mcskin3d since i use that and what not but theres also pmcskin3d in the website if you dont want to download anything, kind of works the same

-hat layer, spam it

-develop your skinning style

-get "inspiration" from other skinners

-try to develop a general pallete and add new colors to it whenever you want

-make waifus saturate the system

-tryhard so that each skin has individuality

-if something doenst work on a skin, either dont do it or find a way for it to work

-get in your pallete a protagonist color and get sidekick colors that work along with it

-color theory

-shameless self promotion in next line

-check out moltenoni he is a pretty cool guy

-spend some time making skins, its not a process of 10 minutes, try to take hours to learn and whatnot

-experiment, constantly

-paint.net is also a cool tool for working on the skin, control of contrast, saturation, etc also easy to learn

-make and publish skins that you like

-dont get unmotivated perseverance is the key to success

-make request skins/commissions if out of ideas

yea, i guess that should cover the basics

also, if ur going to publish alts publish em in imgur deviantart etc and link em with the image button as its against the rules to recolor already existing skins that you published
