Hey, I like how you're trying to implement the use of the second / clothing layer. Still, though, I would study how some other skinners utilize this layer to really make their skins pop. It can also appear to add half-pixels, too, if done correctly. I think the main issue with this is just the fact that the contrast in the shading is extremely low, and each shade could use much more contrast from the others. Also, it makes your art look much more alive if you use hue-shifting!

Here are some extremely helpful tutorials on both how hue-shifting AND contrast works! I hope they can help.

Hey, anytime! I definitely think I could have done better hahah. If you ever want a much more in-depth critique, just hit me up, cause I love giving them out! I really enjoy helping other artists. I'm definitely not an expert myself, but pixel art knowledge carries over a lot onto skinning, turns out. I'm learning too!

I noticed that I've had to use way more contrast for shades in skins than I do for most of my regular pixel art. I guess that has to do with how it appears in the game!

Oh thanks for the sub and diamonds, btw! That's super cool of you.

Honestly super cute. Keep trying and you'll improve a ton, I'm sure! ^^ Everyone also has their own styles, though I tend to see most skins lean towards certain different general types/styles (dark, light/pastel, heavily detailed, simple detailing, etc)

A skin is only bad if you never try. I think it's awesome, my first skins were awful x3
