How could I improve my skinning abilities?
Question's in the title. Not making a poll because I'd like to receive more personalized opinions.

Totally agree with what CenturianDoctor said first: practice, practice, practice! :D Secondly yes, never worry with rushing. When I make skins for friends and such (not shown here as friends don't tend to want them shared), I always just take my time and get them completed when I feel that they are ready...deadlines don't work for me as then I feel pressured and they end up looking super bad.

I'm not the best, but my advice is
1. Make more skins. the more practice, the better you get
2. imo do less dynamic shading. the hard colors look really good on minecraft skins.
example: flayed looks great and it only has 3 colors
3. take your time on skins. rushed skins rarely end up looking good
