Got curious since I heard that some people make skins in just a couple of hours!? Ofc it depends on how much you shade etc but i was just wondering what is the most common amount of time spent for a single skin made from scratch! For me it takes 15~25 hours for one skin nowadays since i shade every pixel now unlike before🤔

It very much depends. Sometimes i save myself some time by using bases and then drawing over them, sometimes I steal a head from my any other skin and recolor it. It's usually from 1 to 3 hours, but when I decide to draw something from zero using only a reference art - it takes much longer.

I usually work on skins on and off, but if I had to put a number on it, it's definetely around the 2-4 hr mark!

My skins seemingly take only a few minutes to make

I used to shade every pixel back in the day, but I got tired of doing that. My hands can't take it anymore, so now it takes me 1-3 hours. Admittedly, I like to readjust skins a lot, even after I'm done, because I overthink. :P

Sometimes I also work over a couple of days, but usually, the first two days are about an hour each, and everything after that is just small tweaks.

I dunno if it's just the ADHD but if a skin took me three hours, I don't think I would finish most of them.

They say like quality over quantity ect. ect. But also practice make perfect. I practice more, and learn faster, have more motivation ect. If I complete them quickly.

Don't always produce great things, but being a perfectionist has turned me aggressively ah whatever I ain't sittin' 'ere for five hours tryna fix it. My as well start again, not like it's gonna take longer. Because if I do get into 'perfection' mode I will be there forever.

I make my skins over a couple of days, but I only sink an hour or two into each session, so it's hard to say.

Can you add an option for under an hour for all of us 2d underachievers?

It depends on certain factors for me, but when inspired I can fully make one from nothing to fully shaded in about 5 or 6 hours maybe even less if I'm really not procastinating and going into it.
Apart from those times it usually takes about 8 hours if I do it all in one day, but I mostly make them over the course of a few days so it's more like 5-20 minutes a day until it reaches a point where it cumulates into about 8 hours as well.
The only times where it takes longer are the cases where I'm either doing something new (be it a theme, or shading style), updating my personal skin (it's my most important project in my eyes) or the rare cases where I need to use Paint.Net to manually change something (be it a mistake, misplaced pixels, etc).

tbh, i never spend any longer than 3 hours making a skin, even if it is more detailed; it’s probably because i use skindex to make my skins, so it’s a lot easier therefore faster - even if the quality of skin isn’t as good as if it were made on pmc editor.
but 15-25 hours still seems crazy to me like what? i imagine you don’t spend 15 consecutive hours skinning but still that’s wild

I seee :0 i always use skindex too (bc i still have no idea how to use pmcskin3d💀) but it’s funny how it still takes me long to finish a skin xD i always get surprised when i check my screentime and see something like ”15h on skindex last week”😳as the other person says in another reply here, time really flies when skinning!

Speaking from experience, whenever I do 8h+ runs, I don't notice time go by.
I once "woke up" from one of those runs of 8 hours and was like "how in the nine f***s is it already 5am".
