(Solved) How do I ADD (Not change) sounds in a resource pack?
Edit: I was missing the "sounds.json" file. Thanks to DWBoyGamer for showing me the correct setup.
I've noticed that most threads on the internet talking about resource pack editing has been referring to changing sounds that are already in the game. However, in Sethbling's Video Generator (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jk1tuUUOnjo) he shows a command block playing a sound labelled "sb0" with no other prefixes. How exactly does this work? I tried just adding a sound to the sound folder, but the playsound effect doesn't play it (It doesn't give me an error, there's just no sound playing)

I'm working on an add sound template pack, if you're interested. Basically just add a sound to the pack and it's ready to go.

Actually, just finished it: https://www.planetminecraft.com/texture_pack/stingray-s-custom-sounds-template-pack/

i think u cant, only with data pack or mods, a option is get sounds that only u can play with commands and change it

Actually, you can! (This forum post needs updating)
All I was missing was the "sounds.json" file, used to establish what sound files go to the sound name in the "playsound" command (So if you want something like "custom.dooropen" there can be random sounds it picks between rather than using the same sound over and over again)

If you still need resource pack that adds new sound effects, consider checking my DWPack resource pack, as it does add new sounds.

Yes, thank you! Kind of weird I've never heard anything about the sounds.json file until now, that seems really useful for mapmaking

You are welcome. And I agree, it is very useful.

You can add brand new sounds with resource packs? defuq

Yeah, that's what's weird to me, because I can find pretty much no documentation of it online, yet in SethBling's video he shows a command to play a sound labelled "sb0" (The command was /playsound sb0 @a) at 2:04. Presumably this is still a feature, however I was unable to get the resource pack myself to test because the link for it no longer works (says there are too many requests). If I could find a resource pack with custom sounds, I'd probably be able to figure it out, but I haven't found any.

you need datapack to add custom music
