Hello, there has been a boost in popularity in a forum game that almost died, so I am attempting to organize and rekindle the flame of CREATE A COUNTRY!
If you are from the old thread please just copy and paste your application, sorry for the inconvenience.

To create a new country, simply fill out the following:

Player
Nickname: If you want people to use one for you.
Time zone: so that people can have an idea of when you are online.
Anything else: Add any information you think should be included.

Country
Name: the name of your country
Race(s): what races live in your country, as well as their role in society if there is more than one (are they all equal? Or are the dinosaurs the rulers while humans are slaves?)
Capital City: the name of your capital city along with a short description thereof.
Flag: your flag. May be omitted
Government: How is your land ruled? Do you have a king? A council of elders? An elected president? Who is your leader/what is the name of the ruling family/who is influential in your country?
Population: basic rule of thumb is that small and/or fast races have a large population, while large and/or slow races have a smaller population
Religion: Make up something that your people believe in (Gods are real, so you can expect some actual help from them). You can base this off a real religion, but don't use a real religion (to keep things Basically Decent) May be omitted.
Technology: Middle age technology is standard, you may choose a few areas in which you are ahead.
Magic: How much does your country know about magic? Who practices it, and how? May be tied in with religion if your God is the source of your magic.
History: How your country was formed. May be omitted.
Location: Name a rough are and I will add you to the map at the correct size.
Geography: what kind of terrain does your country have? Mountains, deserts, lush forests, ice plains, salt lakes? May be omitted.
Anything else: Add any information you think should be included.

Fell free to use other people religion or race in your own land, it only enriches the world history!

If you are mentioning a race that has not been mentioned before, you additionally need to include a description of the
Race
Appearance: describe how your race looks.
Advantages: areas at which your race excels
Disadvantages: areas at which your race has problems. Should be at least as many of these as of advantages
Magic: What kind of magic can your race use? Must it be learned, or is it instinctual? How powerful is it? Can all members of the race use it, or just some?
Lifecycle: If the race has more/less genders than the standard 2, if there is a strange way to have babies, if there is a larva state... mention those things here.
Anything else: Add any information you think should be included.

NOTE: do not create a race that goes against normally used races. i.e. don't create "orks" that are beautiful, graceful and nice. Don't create "humans" that are reptiles.

Rules
This is mostly a free-form RPG, but since we are playing together and not each alone, some rules are necessary to keep this from dissolving into chaos.
1. Be reasonable within the laws of the world. These will be established as we make our characters and play. Specifically: don't be overpowered. You don't suddenly develop magical powers that can destroy all your enemies at a glance, and you don't suddenly have spaceships when you were just finished figuring out how a typewriter works. Don't be afraid to tell others if you feel they are crossing a line.
2. Arguments are ultimately resolved by me. This is to ensure that the thread doesn't dissolve into arguments; if I feel that an issue is taking too much attention I will step in and resolve it, and all players should accept the resolution. I will try to use this a little as possible.
3. Wars are resolved by a neutral party. Basically: Players A and B are having a war. They choose a player C which isn't involved. Both players send their moves to player C, who then decides what happens. Repeat until there is a winner (either because one side is captured, destroyed, or there is a diplomatic agreement to stop the war)
4. Countries and Races must be accepted by me, again this to ensure that people don't start with overpowered countries. You won't be allowed to have archangels who can command every other race they have to obey instinctively. Again, I'll only use this if someone really crosses a line in terms of power, beyond that you are free to be as creative as you like.
5. Updates to the map are to be made by me ONLY. You may suggest a map, but all final maps are to be made by me.
6. Nothing is set in stone. The main goal here is to have fun and create an interesting world. Give a reasonable explanation for why you want something to be changed, and it will very likely be possible to do so.

Country
Name: Nal Fala [nul fa-la

Race(s): Humanoid Tiger People; dominant proportion is 63% Orange with Black Stripes, 21% White with Black Stripes, and 16% Black with Yellow Stripes

Capital City: Luna Field.

Flag: Image of a tree under the moon light on a deep navy background

Government: Female gerontocracy; there are 563 clans falling under 15 ancestral clans. The ancestral clans are the clans that existed at the beginning of their history post-rebellion, with the 563 clans being the result of generations of inter-clan bondings. A clan is created by the merging of two or more different clan members making a life bond to each other, but their clan is over seen by the elder council of the woman’s clan until they have elders of their own. However a pre-existing clan be maintained by accepting a member of a different clan into their own through a life bond to one of the daughters, but no new council will be formed within the clan. Representatives numbering four from each clan council meet five times a year under a full moon to discuss topics of importance such as inter-clan feuds or wars, formal establishment of new clans, and trade. Due to the size of their population, each discussion is held with only those concerned in the matter and a neutral arbitrator for matters of feud and war. The meetings last two weeks to cover all matters of importance at the time of the meeting season.

Population: approximately 67000

Religion: Luna the Moon Goddess

Technology: Medieval war machines, forging, farming, and land management. Combat between people will contain no technology requiring gunpowder, but they are susceptible to it.

Magic: Their magic is nature based, elemental based, and longevity based. It is only wielded by those born with black with yellow striped coats, but it can take decades to control and not everything is available to command. Nature is an art that takes centuries to learn control for and then even more centuries to master. Elemental is simple and easy to achieve, but control and constant vigilance is required to avoid injuring people unintentionally. Longevity is a luck of the draw inheritance, long life lasting into the millennia is possible for those cursed with it, but it is only inherited either by a carrier or a magical mutation in the “batter making” stage of conception. Carriers are reclusive by their second hundredth birthday and rarely try and have another round of playing wife and husbands after their loved ones have died, leaving the longevity magic a rare occurrence. Combining Nature and elemental has only been achieved once and the witnesses could only describe it as an unholy horror and nothing else. Only specialised teachers are allowed to train pupils in the magical arts.

History: The country was formed by an ancient civilisation of nomadic magic users capable of building mountains or oceans whenever it pleased them. They wandered the globe seeking a place nature created for their needs and found an area with a large natural bay backed by a large tropical rainforest struggling to survive along the equator on an uninhabited continent and decided to found new home there. They raised the earth to form a tall mountain range to border the rainforest and keep the outside world from passing through, for it spanned from one side of the bay to the other and sealed the rainforest from the rest of the world for evermore. The mouth of the bay was changed by their power too, they raised the rocks up so that deep keel vessels could not pass into the bay and thus effectively shutting the world out from themselves. They turned their eyes on their new home and each gave a part of their life energy to revitalise the rainforest before venturing into it to take stock on their home. The creatures they found within the jungle were no more than herds of deer like quadrupeds, birds, tigers, and apes. They experimented upon the tigers, trying to create for themselves a reliable guard animal, but unintentionally created a race of humanoid sentient tiger people. They lived as a first class and second class society for 568 years with the tiger beasts’ population count being heavily controlled, and they were primarily used to clear out jungle to build cities for their masters’ use. The tiger beasts the 569th year rebelled against their creators led by a party of extremely aggressive females that had been increasing their population behind their creators’ backs as by that point they were not being as mindful of them as they were in the past. The rebellion lasted thirteen months and by the end they had wiped their masters out completely with heavy assistance by the goddess Luna that took pity on their suffering. The remaining tiger beasts that survived founded the 15 clans and spent the first 50 years struggling to establish a balance of governance amongst themselves. During these first fifty years, the tiger beasts sporting black with yellow stripes were treated unintentionally as a less important minority and mostly wandered the trails of the forests in avoidance of their bickering brethren. Luna made the last known sojourn from the spirit plane to the mortal plane to end the quarrels among the children of magic she had come to love. The first to encounter her was Ashlan Valmour [Ash-lun Val-moor] of the wandering yellow striped black coats, Ashlan was hunting at the time she met Luna. Luna was kneeling by a small brook taking delight in the sensations of the mortal plane by dipping her paw in the water, it was her aura that caught Ashlan’s attention and she was drawn towards Luna from the moment she noticed. They discussed the troubles of her sister beasts, who Luna was and why she was here. Ashlan and Luna spoke for days and at the end before they went to end the quarrels, Luna bestowed upon her and her coat kindred the gift of magic so that they would always have an importance among their sister beasts. They united the tiger beasts under the council of elders with Luna acting as the first council guiding them to replant the trees that were cleared for the now abandoned cities, farming the other beasts of the forest, and caring for the rainforest they lived in. She guided them until they had elders of their own and upon that day she left them for the spirit plane leaving a cryptic message of returning to them at the depths of the dark times to come. They then spent the next 343 years to the present forging their civilisation in the rainforest and establishing the watch guard at the five mountain passes to rest of the continent. In the past 133 years they had been sending their most alert spies across the lands acting as naked dumb beasts to learn about the odd creatures that had been appearing on the continent.

Location: West coast along the equator where there is a large bay. It is there that I would like the country to be.

Geography: Equatorial tropical rainforest bordered by a tall mountain range that is roughly circular in shape and runs across the land from one side of the bays mouth to the other. In the sea there is a barrier preventing ships with a deep keel from passing through into it by way of rocks protruding close to the surface. On land it has only twelve passes over the mountains that restrict almost all travellers to small horse drawn carts lest they wish to take a plunge over the cliffs that are present along the entirety of the paths. There is three passes that are wide enough for wheeled war machines to pass through, and all have cuts in the mountain face to position a few along the outer face of the mountain all along the paths until the last two kilometres from the ground. Within this enclosed area the land is predominately flat with only small hills in a few places, clearings are common throughout the jungle and are used mainly as farm pastures for the deer like animals that are abundant in the rainforest. Other uses for the clearings are for council meetings, full moon ceremonies for giving thanks to Luna, and courtships between the unbonded. Homes are built around the trees of the rainforest which are double in size to redwood trees and having twice the strength of ironwood trees, and only those trees that are not opposed [constantly bitching about everything is more accurate] to having wood of their fallen kin pounded into their trunk to be foundations for stairs, platforms, and houses. Because of this there are a multitude of different paths criss-crossing the rainforest between all these different clan treehouses that make maps useless for any outsider.

Anything else: The women are the dominant over men, they only take care of their young until they are weaned which is when the men are promptly put in childcare mode. Getting in between a mother and her child is the single most stupid decision for anyone to make.

Race Appearance: I have an image to use for this, but I will iron out some details with it. https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/736x/55/25/a9/5525a9518e490d19821d0e7a7ff7de0d.jpg. The men are 8 feet tall whereas the women are 9 feet tall. The men are perpetually well muscled all over within reason to maintain the slim look, the women are too well muscled all over, but with a slightly slimmer look than the men. The women never exceed a B cup size, they have a slightly more feminine build than the men, and they have razor sharp claws. The men have sharp claws that are not razor sharp, but are sharp enough to use in combat. They sport mainly long pants of animal hide when in their homeland, but when travelling openly they have in addition a large backpack containing supplies and materials for making camps, weapons, extra clothes, concealed weapons, and flexible mesh armour covered with small plates of magic endowed steel for battles. The elder council have an extra piece of clothing, which is a hooded white robe that is stained by years of being worn daily. Helmets are worn during war with a design that inspires fear in the enemy forces.

Advantages: Magic, low reliance on resources, lethal combat skills involving bladed weapons or ranged weapons, speed, intelligence, night vision.

Disadvantages: Stands out in any place outside their lands, susceptible to gunpowder based weapons, no concept of money, large size makes them easy targets, naïve to the outside world, their magic is only as useful as the amount of training they have undertaken.

Magic: Instinctual, but requires training to use without harming others in the process. Only the members of their population that are born with a black coat with yellow stripes. The power of their magic is limited to the amount of training they have for it, but it is only the ones born with longevity magic that can achieve extraordinary levels of power. Combining nature and elemental magic is the most powerful, but requires mastery of both to be of any use. Magic is displayed by an aura and every aura is unique to each magic user. Nature magic is the use of the environment [trees, weather, animals, etc.] to fight for you, empower you for pure mana attacks, or for healing. Elemental Magic is the use of the element concepts [temperate, liquid, solid, gas,] and combining different elements to produce offensive or defensive results, an example of this would be combing temperate, solid, and liquid to produce a concrete barrier. How would that happen you think, well by using solid as a blanket concept, the material for concrete would fall under this as it is part of the solid object earth and when combined with liquid it would become concrete with the assistance of temperate. The downside is that you have to have foreknowledge of what you are trying to achieve with it, and that any stray thought could trigger it. Longevity magic is a magical force slowing the biological aging process down to a speed that is inconceivably slow, but the length of sustained longevity is unknown.

Lifecycle: Lifespan has recently been averaged at 119 years of age compared to the average from their history at 97. Birth is exactly like a mammals, and weaning is started at six months of age. After that it is a normal life like any other humans until death. Those with longevity however are theorised to die anywhere between five hundred to a hundred thousand years of age.

Anything else: They do not share the idea of modesty, i.e. they have no problem being nude in public and actually find it amusing that others do. If there is anything needing work or revision let me know please.

Name: He'el
Race(s): Humans(about 99.99%%) Demons(.0001%)
Demons and Humans live togethor with the Demons as leaders and advisors. Demons dont like being leaders but they don't have to fight. The humans ake up most of the population and are mostly common people. They make up the military and work force.
Capital City: Baarion, a large city with buildings made mostly of stone. 100% of the demons live here in the middle of the city. There are large farms not for plants but to raise red meat for the Demons. The streets are lit up with fires. In the city are large temples dedicated to the leaders of Bethlel(hell) and other demons living there. The city is very dirty due to the lack of workers who clean up around the city. On the edge of the city are normal farms used to grow food for Humans.
Flag: Omitted
Government: The government is completely made up of Demons. There are 7 who lead the city and each has personal advisors and bodyguards. Other Demons have various other government jobs. No Demons in the government fight in wars, but they are forced to lead the land by the leaders of Bechlel. The government gets a new staff every 7 years when all of the Demons go back to their homes, and new ones come to earth to look after the county.
Population: 4,700,000(470 Demons, 4,699,530 Humans)
Religion: People worship the 7 leaders of Bechlel and other demons. The leaders of Bechlel are Satan, Lucifer, Mammon, Asmodeus, Beelebub, Leviathan, and Belphegor. there are 7 different orders, each named after one of the princes, and each inhabit a different place in the country. They believe that with the help of the Humans, the Demons overthrew the rule of the gods of Himme(Heaven) and now rule over all. They believe that they need the Demons to stay civilized and powerful.
Technology: The people of He'el are in general, behind others in technology, but are ahead in explosives and siege weaponry. Also very good at working with stone. stone buildings and walls are stronger in general.
Different technologies.
Siege weapons:
Crunch: Large weapon designed to bring down strong walls. A large heavy "arm" falls and crushes the wall beneath it.
Cannons: Like normal Cannons but can shoot farther and uses the advanced explosives of the people of He'el.
Catapult: Like cannons can shoot farther and use the advanced explosives.
Exploding Ball: Controlled by magic, rams into wall and lodges itself in the middle. It then explodes:
Ball: Same idea a\s the Exploding Ball, except instead of explosives, it carries Humans which get inside the wall and swarm inside.
Pour Arm: Reaches over the walls and pour Flame Powder inside the walls

Explosives:
Explosives in general have a larger blast area than normal ones used by other counties, but are smaller and can go farther
Boom!stick: Explodes, then spreads a sticky flaming residue that sticks to people, animals, and surrounding buildings and walls.
Flame Powder: A highly flammable powder that explodes when it is together in large quantities.
Spider Bomb: like a cannonball, but when it hits something, it opens and a web like thing sticks to the surface. after 3 seconds it explodes. escpecially good for taking down light structures.
Goo Bomb: a special type of explosive the when it hits a surface it spread out and sinks into cracks and opening. It will explode with great force after 4 sec. Great for taking down heavy walls

Magic: Magic is given to the Humans by the Demons and although it is very powerful, the magic is directly linked to ones life-force and if one overexerts him or herself, they will be consumed in fire. Magic is mostly battle magic and summoning magic. The military will not fight with weapons, because none are made, but with magic. Demons can be summoned to fight for the military but only one per person. Magic ability and life-force varies from one person to another but can be improved with practice. All people are required to take a pilgrimage to the ancient land which is located on an island in the middle of the sea controlled by Baconlia. They must get there using magic they have leaned and only the ones who succeed are allowed to live. If one gives up, they are sacrificed to the Demons. The pilgrimage is taken at 15 years old. there is one pilgramage per year that happens on the 7th day of the 7th month.(He'el uses a different calendar with 7 months but has the same amount of days in it as normal. Each mont has 52 days except the 4th which has 53).
History: The country used to be a very large and powerful country called Leeria. They worshiped the gods and had great lives. A large group formed though and discovered the power of allying oneself with the Demons. The Humans helped the Demons take over Himme and after losing contact with the gods, all fell into chaos. The revolution came in and took over, giving all leadership to the Demons. The citizens of the once great Leeria could either ally themselves with the Demons or be sacrificed.
Location: A large country along the sea. Borders Baconlia and Dekoni Dominion.
Geography: Surrounding the country is lots of uninhabited forest. Near the beaches the land is mostly flat. The southeastern region is very mountainous and the middle is very fertile land with lots of freshwater lakes. The middle is very populous.
Anything else: There is a leader of each order, who is the most powerful magician of the order. In times of great peril Each of the leaders can get togethor and preform a day long ritual. If uninterrupted, they will summon each of the seven leaders of Bechlel to destroy their enemies. can only be used in defense and not often used because it takes a great toll an the land and requires 100 people from each order as a sacrifice. The leaders of Bechlel will inhabit the bodies of the leaders of the 7 orders and after a day, the bodies will rot and die returning the leaders of Bechlel back to their home. only ever successfully been used once and it cause the mountains in the southeast to rise and all life there was destroyed. Also, all cities are connected in the middle of the territory. There is a big stone wall surrounding all of the cities and another separating the different cities. The capitol in the middle. inhabited land makes up only about 60% of the territory

Fell free to use other people religion or race in your own land, it only enriches the world history!

If you are mentioning a race that has not been mentioned before, you additionally need to include a description of the
Race
Humans (slightly different from normal because of the demons).
Appearance: For the most part, normal except for the fact that they are taller and skinnier than other humans.
Advantages: Great at magic.
Disadvantages: Weak, lower lifespan than normal because the life-force is taken from magic.
Magic: Battle magic, all who learn can use(if you don't learn you will die because of the pilgrimage)very powerful
Lifecycle: all things normal to humans. only exception is if a demon had a baby with a human. they are killed immediately though so you don't have to worry about it
Anything else: Only humans that interact with humans.

Race
Demons
Appearance: varies from demon to demon. Some have horns, some are big, some are small. Each Demon looks different and each are different in power. All have very tough skin.
Advantages: Tough skin, strong, when killed they go back the Bechlel to regenerate
Disadvantages: Slow, bad at magic, dumb, naive
Magic: Most demons don't use magic. Only the stronger Demons do. normally demons with magic cant be summoned by the average human. stronger magicians although can summon some of them.
Lifecycle: Demons are not born, but made from evil souls that came to Bechlel.
Anything else: Most demons summoned to fight are about 7', are very strong, and use large weapons like axes and large swords. Smaller, magical demons are used for reconnaissance and they are usually the size of a very small puppy.

Government: An elected president, who is currently Barry Schell, whom I will be roleplaying as in first person.
Population: A little help with this one would be nice
Religion: They believe in some sort of Goddess in the Sky who created this land.
Technology: We're a bit ahead in medicine, and architecture.
Magic: Very few people can learn the magics. There are three kinds, only one related to the Goddess; There is Black Magic, which is the attack spells. White Magic, which is pretty much healing prayers to the Goddess. And then, the hidden kind, Blue Magic, also known as a Copy Ability. This allows you to learn an opponent's spells should you be hit by them.
History: The Dashians say the Goddess in the Sky, supposedly, used her divine power to form the entire planet, a rumor which was never supported OR declined. They also say that she was the original ruler of Dashia, until it grew too much work for her to do that AND all that religion stuff. So she appointed a president, who built it into the marvel it is today.
Location: Around the North would be nice.
Geography: Mostly plains, but there are a few mountains and a cave or two per mountain...
Anything else: I based this off of a ton of random vidya gaims and my own ideas combined. It does seem cool, though.

Country
Name: City-State of Noridia (or, The Republic of Noridia)

Races: 40% human, with mixed races consisting of elves, dwarves, etc. that are human-like for the rest. There is a small, but notable population of Crossemian Golems.

Capital City:
Noridia, large coastal city.
-Built for both trading and withstanding sieges, as it has had a rough history.
-Trading ports are open to all traders that follow local laws and are not at war.
-Protected by a naval force and local garrison (with a backup force just outside the city). More on those things later.
-The atmosphere is relatively safe, due to the fact that there are so many people out in the day that dozens would see someone attempting a robbery in almost any part in the city.
-At night, the Night Watch keeps down on crime, with relative success.
-The age and lack of remodeling in large areas means that there are still places in the city where it is apparent the wars that have been fought there.
-Hygiene is a moderate issue, but not unbearably so.
-Roughly half the city is built on water. It has lasted for as long as it has because of the surprisingly mild waters around the location (although magic is the main reason why it has stayed so calm in the first place).

Flag: -will create later on-

Government: A council of seven rules the city and makes decisions on the behalf of its colonies, called the Noridian High Council. Power elsewhere generally lies with the naval and army commanders, and a very large influence is present in the form of the Mage Clans, which have a long history for themselves. Every 12 years, members of the High Council are elected. Terms are not limited. People vote on whoever is to take each council seat. Some seats stay the same for a long time, and others change every election.

Population: Mostly concentrated in the main city (approx. eight thousand), with people scattered across other colonies of varying sizes (from a couple hundred to a couple thousand per).

Religion: The city once was loyal to what are known as the “Old Gods” - beings that live to the south and provided the means to everything from water to the houses that the people live in. Their power is greatly diminished, so the people are susceptible to conversion to other religions, as they don’t do much to establish themselves. The Mage Clans, said to be the main representation, are divided and near useless at what they were initially for.

Technology: Noridia focuses more on improving old and tried technology, as compared to other nations which have tried to advance forward as fast as they could. As a result, Noridia uses a combination of magic , older technologies, and tactics that adopt enemy tactics (think of the Romans). They also have what are called the Crossemian Golems, which are constructs of rock powered by the Old Gods that are relatively sophisticated in nature. However, these golems have waned along with their sources of power.

Magic: Magic is largely managed by the Mage Clans, which used to draw energy from the essence of life itself through nature and the Old Gods, although various citizens are capable of wielding magic of various forms. Now, the Mage Clans simply use natural sources, having strayed greatly. Capabilities include elemental magics, including fireballs and ice missiles. Those who make use of natural magics can power old animations of golems and call down more naturally based woes to their enemies. On the friendlier side, natural based mages can heal and help stimulate the growth of plants, and supposedly help strengthen new lives.

History: Although their history is filled with warfare, the past couple hundred years have been times of peaceful trading.

Founding
Noridia was founded, for whatever reason, around a canyon that had sides dipping down to the ocean. It isn’t known exactly why this was done, but the original founders are said to have been exiles from the north, when old empires still reigned.

Rise to Power
The city is located between various islands, and is a link in the overall trading stability of the neighboring areas. It has the best connection to two influential islands, and so it made sense for it to have made a profit out of trading. With rampant brigands at sea, and some on land, Noridia needed to build a strong fleet and local force to protect its interests.

Colonial Era (the High Age)

Eventually, there was a leader who took use of the military for purposes of expansion. Lord Augustine, one of the prominent nobles of his time already, overthrew the current leaders (as the city was lead by a noble class) and became King of Noridia. He used the fleets to make many colonies in neighboring islands and also to the north. His son, King Tostig, continued this policy and was able to manage the colonies quite well without them breaking off.

Fall of the Colonial Era/Rise of the Mage Clans
However, the next king in the line, King James, was much less popular. He did not have the backing of Noridian nobility, and had a very difficult time securing his authority. It was in this time that nearly half the colonies nearby and all of the outermost ones declared independence. At the same time, rising northern powers were becoming increasingly more willing to challenge Noridia’s naval superiority. In a war near the end of his reign, the navy was nearly wiped out due to poor strategy at the hands of the king and the alliance of nearly every major power that had any sort of military power against them.

The Siege of Noridia
The city was eventually put under siege. A hastily formed group of fighters and mages from the long-overlooked religious population was assigned a task: to defeat the many foes that waited outside of the city at sea, and even a force that passed through the forest behind them.

What happened mext is a heavily disputed matter. In the history books, this group sacrificed their souls to the Old Gods, causing a great storm to come over the attacking fleets… and deal horrific damage to them, sinking many and damaging others. The land behind the city turned to mud and made the flanking force unable to move. After several days of this storm, the enemies were forced to fall back.

The above version is what is told by historians today in history books (although there are definately skeptics at home and abroad). However, what does stay constant is the fact that a powerful sect of the same religious group following the old gods became extremely influential after the siege. They were divided into Clans, one for each of the old gods, and were few in number, and united in purpose. The King was overthrown thanks to the Clans (who adopted the name of “Mage Clans”), and a new, more democratic government was formed. The Crossemian Golems were created as a security measure, although they did not work well ultimately. Most importantly, naval power was re-established in a more mellow form and trade was able to be reached with old enemies.

Modern History

The siege happened 200 years ago. Since then, Noridia has rebuilt and secured loyalty from its closer colonies. The Mage Clans divided and split into too many branches to count, and is no longer a primary force in the city-state’s politics. Noridia now is most interested in its trading capabilities, rather than advancing its navy to form a new colonial nation. However, that may change, as it is coming close to its next election (which happens every 12 years).

Location: Noridia itself is at the tip of the southern peninsula bordering the sea, with a rather modest landmass under its direct control that expands across the peninsula.. However, it also has colonies scattered about various locations, including across the sea - maintained by Noridia’s powerful navy. Their borders on the mainland end at the large southern forests. Located on the peninsula, not including the capital, are two cities (both coastal) and a fortress that garrisons one of Noridia’s land armies.
(feel free to stick the colonies close by as you want, I am thinking at least two. That island directly east is a good spot to stick a colony. I can elaborate more on them when I know what I am working with)

Geography: The capital was built around a large coastal canyon, a decision which was made so long ago nobody remembers what the reason was. Further inland is a very large forest that extends across the south part of the continent. Industrialization of the forest has been attempted several times, and has failed each time by a variety of “accidents”.
Anything else:

Technological Advancements
Noridia, having not been involved in wars for a long time, has not had any particular need to advance its technologies in warfare. The cannons of newer ships, for example, have difficulties in piercing the strong built ships of the navy, whereas the navy uses what are essentially large bows to shoot special flaming bolts at enemy ships. However, if needed, Noridia can adopt to effectove technologies that it faces, should they prove a major threat. For example, exploding cannonballs that do considerably more damage than regular cannons to ships could be evaluated and used in some form.

Millitary
Noridia is focused on its naval capabilities, as compared to its rather small land forces. It has one large fleet that guards the town along with the garrison fleet. There are four smaller fleets that guard colonies and monitor traffic. Each ship is equipped with small siege weapons, with shots that can be set on fire to damage and burn other ships - magically enhanced so that they can burn in the rain. Said weapons are like a ballista in nature and construct. Ships are in three tier sizes - based on how many decks there are below (add one deck per ship type). They are built for strength, although the lowest class ship trades some of that off for agility (they are still very well made). Ships typically have 30% crew and 70% marines. Crew members have a knife and not impressive leather for armor, whereas the marines have strong mail, a sword, 5 javelins, and a shield, along with whatever else they want to carry as weaponry.

Land forces are 80% garrisons, with two armies at home that are professional (one for the city, and another for “general” use garrisoned in a countryside castle), and a small force of specialized combat mages at home. The rest of the forces are part time soldiers that can be called upon for Noridia or in colonies. The professional soldiers are armed with bows and arrows, and can switch to sword and shield for melee combat. Soldiers favor agility over armor, although the Council Guard have top-quality armor and use long spears, with a sword to the side. Garrisons typically have spear armed soldiers with armor that they provide for themselves. Citizens will generally be wealthy enough to afford decent light armor. A special division, composed of mages, can channel power to send down strikes with large rocks, extreme weather, etc… which assist the professional armies.

Command in the navy consists of each fleet having an admiral (for larger ones, sub admirals are appointed), and the rest of the ships having captains. Each navy has a line of inheritance for who takes command should the admiral’s ship fall.

On land, a similar system is used, with each division of troops having field captains, each four divisions answering to a commander, with four commanders answering to the general. Generals are usually of the High Council, but could involve commanders being promoted as well.

Despite the very professional navies, well trained garrisons and the capable armies, the population for these things is maintained by colonies and the one city state itself - there is not a large spot from which to recruit thousands of soldiers. Therefore, approximately 2000 men are involved in the navies and 1000 maximum for standing armies (the garrisons can be called from the local population) in total. Military superiority depends on excellent defence of holdings and seasoned marines - not with numbers by any means..

Characters

Council Member Thomas Mylles: The oldest in the Council, and generally the most influential. He is quiet, but when speaking, can offer logic that keeps some of the more brash council members at bay. He is the one most influential in foreign policy.

Council Member Lyaus Orsillian: Partially of elven blood and a younger member of the council, she inherits the legacy of an older family in Noridia, and is also one of the best debaters on the council; not a bad trait since she often disagrees with her fellow members. Her main place of influence is with the armed forces, as her father was a general who put down several colonial rebellions.

Naval Commander William Draker: Admiral of the primary fleet at Noridia, and in charge of local security Since the sea is the best way to approach the city, he has the extra duty of being the first line of defense against assault. A senior in the navy, he has experience sinking a large variety of pirate ships and keeping the sea in his area relatively clean of piracy and, to an extent, smuggling. He is strong in logistics, but sometimes overly blunt in his strategy, which has in the past resulted in more losses than needed.

Chief Engineer Kenez Byrta: Overseer of shipbuilding and the one who evaluates technologies, and creates them with his own adjustments. He is middle aged and quite creative with his experiments.

*more to be added if necessary*

Political Influences (for the upcoming elections of 7 main council menbers)
There are three major groups that are competing for the approval of the people and the colonies.

The Current High Council
There is no limit to the amount of terms that the council members can have. They consist generally of senior members of the majority groups at the time which worked together to form the “perfect” High Council - one that served the best interests of all major parties at the time. However, the perspective of the people has been shifted to aim at new groups. The high council as it stands needs to stick together to keep itself in line. It stands for the maintenance and continuation of the trading empire.

The New Colonial Union
This group is a recent one, which enjoys the benefit of having a lot of young followers that can promote its ideals. Although by no means guaranteed to win, it holds slightly higher influence than other parties. It stands for the revival of the Colonial Empire and feeds on feelings of adventure within younger generations. By no means popular abroad, but surprisingly strong at home.

The Mage Clans
Although divided in intent and purpose, the clans make up the largest third influence by far. It is possible for them to establish a few seats in the High Council, following a humiliating defeat 11 years ago, in which nobody of the Mage Clans was elected into power. They have since learned and made attempts to be more united, and play on their history as a role. They wish to continue the trading empire, generally, but some outside clans would do other things.

Races

Race
Appearance: Large, lumbering what looks like every thing you can dig up from the ground, stitched together to make an approximate being.
Advantages: Extremely strong, immune to regular melee weapons, arrows are pointless, and live in areas that make it difficult to even see them, much less respond, independent, and to an extent, intelligent (for what you would expect from golems).
Disadvantages: Slow, a bit clumsy, horrible against anything explosive (they can be easily felled by cannons, bombs and explosives of any kind), not very agile, brainpower is much less compared to a human, useless in water (will simply sink), like to sleep too much, hard to get to do anything when asked, and cannot replace components of its body.
Magic: Simply enough to animate them to do as above. They cannot use spells.
Lifecycle: They were mass produced by the Mage Clans following the Siege of Noridia, and cannot be created anymore as the spells have since been lost to all. They have no means of reproduction.
Anything else:
History
These golems were made after the Siege of Noridia to serve as a defense force. However, when created, it was found that after a couple years, they would develop serious side effects - stubbornness, inability to re-attach parts when lost, clumsiness, lack of speed and agility, and difficulty even staying awake (apparently, they could sleep). They were banished en masse to the forests south, where they have made homes deep inside for themselves. They will not fight unless threatened. Their numbers and abilities make them an effective barrier to invaders from the southern forests.

Here is a backstory to how Zu Kai's father, Tjo Kai, conquered Nurovia.

A great empire will always come face to face with a problem, an inconvenience that stops the progress of the great conquests. Tjo Kai's problem, was a big ol' mountain range. The Nurovian coast was protected by mountains, it was already a challenge for a few scouts to cross, so the armies of The Dominion wouldn't stand a chance.
Tjo Kai smiled, the Nurovians though themselves protected, safe from the Dragon behind the mountains. It had taken him years to find a way, to find a weak spot in the endless range of mountains, he had finally found one.
There was a small lake, connecting the Ov river with it's Delta, in Nurovia. And that's where the emperor happened to be, coincidentally, with a massive army, on the cold winter night. There was a Knarvan town on the other side, Loch'ton, forgotten by most and not guarded, they had nothing to fear, since Dekoni had never crossed the lake. Tjo Kai marveled at his fine creations, he had designed the Water Carts himself. They dwarfed in comparison to the Nurovian Caravels, but they got the job done. A large wooden surface was attached to a load of empty barrels, on either side stood a dozen rowers. On each sea cart stood fifty soldiers, ready to sack the city that stood in there way.
"It's ready, your majesty". The Emperor slowly got on to one of the carts, armed to the teeth. My, this was going to be fun.
* * *
The city was theirs in a matter of minutes, they had made quick work of it, slaughtering everyone, not leaving a soul in the Mortal Plane. They did it, they finally had a base in Nurovia. He'd order a bridge to be built, and then, when the armies of Death has crossed, Nurovia would crumble under his feet. The war had officially begun.

So after that, Nurovia was annexed into the Dominion. And Tjo Kai died peacefully of old age. His son (me) Zu Kai got the throne, and he isn't as bloodthirsty as his father.

So your country formed from a member of the Kai family conquering the Milan Coast? That's cool, maybe John Kai wasn't in line for the Dekoni throne, so he went and conquered a country to be his own.

I never understood why the Knarves are so unhappy. We have gained their land through the noble right of conquest, we do not expect them to follow our customs, merely pay us tribute from their trades. They even have protection, our professional armies forever watching over the great blue seas. I warn you, the Nurovian coast is heavily guarded. We will defend with the power of science and technology, our siege and gunpowder weapons will crush your puny spells. My father vowed to never let Nurovia go, I will do the same.
Great Baconlian leader, we have always respected your people, even my father, who was considered a warmongerer, didn't attack your thriving empire. We respect your customs and traditions, and look too you for aid against this new threat. Thr Nurovians told tales of strange lizardmen, with sharp teeth, unrivaled in combat. We'll put that reputation to the test.

Nurovians told of strange lizardmen, on their island of dry dust. Both nations traded products, technologies and customs. They told me of your style of warfare, and the great machines you created. We seem to both be at disadvantage, we know nothing of each others territory. You talk of liberation of Nurovia, of noble conquest. How pathetic, the coast is ours, and will remain so as long as the Dominion stands.
