Hello! Are you ready for some tasty-tasty spoilers! What? Oh. You don't read my stuff so you don't really care? Well that's mean.

....

....

Oh that was the dark voice inside, and not you that said that? Huh. I guess you are just too polite. Unlike the negative self-talk, which is always very rude.

Either way! I decided that I haven’t really shown off any of my storytelling stuff, I kinda hoard my lore, story and worldbuilding like a dragon until snippets show up in bits of writing that I do.

That changes today, mostly. I'm going to reduce the 'spoiler effect' by not using the actual character names, just nicknames, also not going to tell you whether or not those characters are characters you can find a skin for, either, so there is still some mystery. One you could figure out if you tried, but maybe that's a fun puzzle. I dunno. None of these stories are particularly serious, in the 'oh this is going to be a published novel one day' sense. So why not?

*hem hem* My cat appears to be sick, so don’t mind me… just gotta deal with uh… that.

Okay I’m back! Time to Lore!

We have three universes to cover today, the people who follow my stuff, will have a vague awareness of two of these, and may even have heard about the third very new one. But most of you will have no idea about any of them.

And that’s okay too :D

Because even for those people that can vaguely pinpoint the three universes, well I’ve explained approximately nothing about any of them, to anyone. So you know.

It’s not like you’re coming to the table with much less.

But what are the three universes? Well.

The Gamer Universe ↔ Urban Fantasy, A bunch of teenagers are fated to be yeeted into an alternate world filled with monsters, how everyone attempts to prepare them, and what happens when they get there.

End v Nether Universe ↔ High (also potentially Epic) Fantasy. A high fantasy world heavily inspired by minecraft, leaning hard into the old fashioned end people v demons from the nether trope. Many things going on there.

The uh Magical Universe ↔ Urban Fantasy. *long pause* Eloise does the magical girl + boy trope. Even though she knows next to nothing about it. What. That’s an accurate description! That is not spoilers :[ which is... difficult.

Huh. We are already at four hundred words and I haven’t even gotten into my first proper description. I wonder what the final count is gonna look like? Big probably. I easily predict five thousand or more, but I don't think I'm going to break ten thousand, that would be obscene. And ya know. Historically I only write the smallest quantity of words.

The Gamer Universe

Story one, teenagers being trained to fight and no it’s not medieval times or a dystopia! Ha. How weird.

This universe originally started as just a, ‘what if teenagers, some of which possessing supernatural capabilities, were trained to fight at school’ and it wasn’t like an angsty thing.’ Now as some of you will be aware (especially if you read fanfiction for things) that training children to fight, it’s not generally Morally Upright Behaviour.

I mean take your kids to martial arts, whatever, but that’s different from handing them a sword or a bow built for killing and teaching them how to use it because you want them to use it for killing.

Right out the gate and we have discovered a major plot hole, and there are a bunch more, which I shall just list off real quick…
  • Training children to fight is bad, but we no want dystopia
  • Swords and bows for self defence? Why no use tiny mechanical murder device instead?
  • Some people have superpowers, why are all the children getting trained? Why not just the ones with the superpowers?
And all that is basically covered by one major solution. Which I already explained, the kids are getting yeeted to an alternate world which is:
  • Filled with monsters that will kill the children if they can’t fight
  • Different in a way that means that mechanical weapons like guns don’t work.
This is how I rid the dystopia element, because of course in this scenario the only reasonable solution to the situation is that the kids know how to look after themselves. Which involves bows and swords. And superpowers.

There is of course another problem spawned by this, well a couple.
  • Why and how are the kids getting yeeted?
  • Why can’t they stop the kids from getting yeeted?
  • How do they know that the kids are getting yeeted?
  • …worldbuilding.
*cracks knuckles* And this is where we get to the heart of things. And I kinda wish I had run through this in you know, the order of worldbuilding, instead of order of reasoning? But uh. I got rid of the pretty veneer, and now you get to see how things are actually done in my head.

First question first, the basic why and how of the most fundamental premise.

In this Earth-like world, there is a repeating cycle that affects the people there. This cycle ties into the movements of the universes, one of which the Earth-like world sits inside. I’m sure you can see where this is going, but basically, the ‘cycle’ happens when two universes get all close and cosy.

And the cycle breaks down to be, Universe 2 has a lot of magic, which likes people very much. It wants to get all up into their business, and set up shop in their souls.

But. The older a person is the harder it is to do that, and to do it properly the magic needs to make changes to a person’s body too, which can’t be done without Stuff From Universe 2.

The result is, that the magic, upon getting in range of Universe 1 tries its hardest to get a grip on any human it can, which is basically anyone under the age of three, at that time, and anyone born over the following sixteen years as Universe Two slowly drifts closer.

As soon as it gets close enough, the magic becomes able to pull people it has a grip on closer to its core. Aka, from Universe 1 to Universe 2.

So on that day anyone from the age of 0.1 seconds to nineteen years gets kidnapped by a mindless force that likes human souls and wants to be symbiotic with them. The magic doesn’t get the idea that newborns are probably going to die being removed from their homeworld, just regardless, and it certainly doesn’t understand how dangerous Universe 2 is.

But uh. Yeeeeaaaah.

And that is basically the whole underlying pretense for part one, because this story does come in two parts, and how part two works out… well. I’ll get to that later. For now, we still have some questions to answer.

Why can’t they stop the kids from getting yeeted? & How do they know that the kids are getting yeeted?

For question one, Universe 1 has no magic. And they really aren’t prepared. Realistically, even if they were prepared, there wouldn’t be much that they could do. Even if they did have magic, they are trying to overcome a whole universe’s worth of raw energy. I mean don’t get me wrong, the people try, but uh, not successfully.

Now question two is much more complicated, and frankly it’s one of the more problematic questions to answer. For now my working ideas basically boils down to, this has happened before, people have mostly forgotten but not entirely. Information on it can be found, and when funky stuff starts to happen (like kids getting superpowers) all that information gets dug up and things get figured out.

Which leads me into another bit of worldbuilding, which is the superpowers.

If you have read the little drabbles I put in the descriptions of some of the characters for this universe, you might have noticed that when the characters refer to superpowers they generally refer to it as ‘their ancestry’. Because despite being activated by the presence of Universe 2 (and it's magic), the superpowers are genetic.

Wait… activated but genetic? Huh? This world has no magic! Why dormant superpower genes?

Well you see, the cycle has happened before, basically identically (in function) to how it happens in this time, with the kids getting basically kidnapped, but some of those people came back. And uh… well they came back a little different.

With superpowers. But as your big brain has probably figured out, Universe 2 moves away again as part of its cycle, and without it and the magic that comes with it, the superpowers don’t work. Or more accurately, they can’t be activated in the first place.

The biological, genetic changes still carry through from parent to child, but they don’t do anything until Universe 2 comes back again.

When it does, anyone who has the genes, and is young enough to get snagged by the magic also manifests whatever dormant superpowers they have. And yes, sometimes it is powers plural because multiple superpowered ancestors who have different things going on genetically produce all sorts of funky things.

Have I covered everything? Well in basic terms I think I have. Obviously I could get into the ins and outs of this or that, but I think there is enough for the overall setting aspect of part one. Let’s get to the character, and thus the exact plotline aspects of this.

(Not that I have a full plot-plan yet, but like here is where individual chapters are decided)

Now most of my characters thus far, and my main characters in particular, are between the ages of- *pause* wait no, fiddlesticks, they get older over the course of the story. Agh. Okay let’s just go from year one, the story start. Yup.

Anyway, the story starts about two years before everyone gets yoinked, at least at the moment it does, some of my drabbles predate this decision, and might contradict it a bit, but not directly. And most of the characters are between seventeen and fifteen.

Seventeen being the oldest kids to have superpowers, just generally.

Obviously, since they are different ages, they are grouped in different classes etc. And generally the seventeen year olds mostly interact with each other, sixteen year olds mostly interact with only each other, etc etc. The only exceptions are if like a character has a sibling who is younger or older.

Which in other more sensical direct terms means that I’m an Epic Fantasy writer and in this story there are going to be multiple main-line plot threads (or basically multiple mini-stories), which mainly involve the characters from one year level.

That sort of makes sense doesn’t it? I don’t know what I’m doing with this, in case you haven’t noticed, talking about my stories obviously, but this clearly ain’t structured.

But whatever, we continue.

With a character list! Which is going to use annotations, so I should explain those in advance!

* = A One off POV Chapter

** = Occasional POV Chapters

*** = Fairly Frequent POV Chapters

🔷= Main POV Character

And now, prepare yourselves for the list!
  • Not A Dead Sidekick 🔷
  • Slightly Less Angsty Protagonist **
  • Embrace The Horrifying
  • Maybe The Villain Is(n’t) Me ***
  • Totally Great And Powerful™ *
  • Everything Is Overrated
  • I May Not Be Smart
  • But I’m Also A Moron
  • No Interest In Sanity
  • Hello, Yes, I am a Terrible Person
  • I am Weak with Kindness
  • Swords and Words are Interchangeable *
  • Chilling with the Crazy 🔷
  • Don’t Call Me Edgy **
  • You Are Annoying **
  • I’m Not Insecure

Everyone is very confused. Don’t worry, that whole thing was more for my benefit then yours. Since I can’t use the real names here, so I gotta come up with new fake names, so I can work on- I mean explain the plot.

I’m not using this as an excuse to work on all my ideas. Nope. Not at all.

Anyway, my main plans for the plot so far… well if we exclude part two stuff, since I seem to have made a general decision to do that for some reason. Well…

I vaguely want to explore themes associated with… well I suppose growing up? Specifically in the context of going from thinking about things in a very, I want to win this competition, get the best marks, etc, to a place where they think about things in a bigger way.

Petty squabbles don’t matter, if a person is a little bit nasty sometimes they aren’t necessarily a villain.

I don’t think all the characters are going to make it to that place of realisation before part two, but when part two comes and suddenly there are monsters etc, well. They’ll catch up really quick. But in general, I think by the end of part one, most of the core protagonists will have learned that they don’t have to be divided within themselves.

Friendship is magic :D

That is for the most part the emotional theme I want to pursue in that first half. And as it is, that is basically the core of that plot. Since you know, the really crazy fantasy battles, and a lot of the other more we need to do A B and C to achieve C which is very important type stuff comes in part two.

I call it material/physical plot, basically the defeating the dark lord, not getting eaten by the monster, finding the shiny gold treasure for fame and glory, part of the plot. There will be emotional plot/character development there, but uh, a lot of it will be derived from the physical plot and not the other way around if you know what I mean.

Probably not. But eh.

Anyway, that’s about where that story is in development. I skipped a bunch of stuff, because this isn’t a wiki of all the facts about this world, but it’s an overview of what the story is about. Which is the… point of this? Maybe. Who knows? I made up fake names then never went into enough detail with the plot to need them. Well I had fun with them anyway I guess.
End v Nether Universe

Story two. Okay well buckle up, because I think here there might be more things to be talking about right here and uh- secrets! That I have to finish setting up.

⨀_⨀

This is going to take so long. *sigh*

Anyway! End v Nether. There is a lot to explore with this one, and I feel like I should probably plan out what topics I want to cover/questions I want to answer before I begin, just because otherwise I won’t get to all the things, and nobody wants that right?

  • Overworld, End, Nether? *long pause*...Aether?
  • Humans, and Demons, or Villagers and Piglins?
  • Magic System?
  • Plot…?

Okay. That list is not as long as I thought it would be.

Oh well. Let’s get going.

Overworld, End, Nether? *long pause*...Aether?

Yes, yes, yes, and no. I did think about it, because I love the modded vibes, but the overworld in this universe is so insanely varied that you basically get Aether type places anyway. The dimensions are all infinite, kinda like the default game, where it’s basically an infinitely generating flat plane in all directions.

(And yes I know, worldborder yadda yadda, this doesn’t have to be a file saved on a hard drive somewhere, everything can just go on forever, and I WANT IT TO OKAY?)

It doesn’t exactly feel like it in the End, because after a certain distance there is Only Void. But for both the Nether and the Overworld that is true.

Now I’m changing the Nether-Overworld relativity thing. You know where you travel a certain distance in the Nether, and it’s whatever times it would be in the Overworld? I’m getting rid of that, because I’m changing how portals work entirely.

Essentially, in this world, it doesn’t matter where your portals are, in space, that’s not what links the Overworld portal to the Nether one. There is no ‘this location in Nether = this location in Overworld’. That’s not how it works. Why? Why would I change this?

Because uh, plot reasons. Lore reasons. I had a cool idea, and to make it work it just has to go like this k?

Besides, this makes things much more interesting. Strategically. Stop looking at me like that. Almost every minecraft animator completely ignores portal logic anyway, just because I’m making sure my universe actually runs off rules and explaining the rules doesn’t mean you get to stare.

You didn’t explain how it works.

Oh right. Well, that’s because it works in basically every way? You can key two portals to connect, you can yolo it and let the universe decide where the other end ends up, you can do the middle road and sorta yolo it but in a mildly directed way… it functions in all the ways you would expect.

Anyway, In summary:

  • Three Dimensions
  • There is infinite Overworld and Nether
  • Beware The Void
  • Portals Work Different
  • And The Overworld is Kinda Funky in Places
Humans, and Demons, or Villagers and Piglins?

All of the above! Yup! I’ve not removed anything from the default game lore…? Just changed and added things mostly, so Villagers and Illagers- Piglins and Endermen still exist. Sort of. They might be different, maybe even a little hard to recognise.

Humans, Demons, are some of the additions. They don’t exactly co-exist with Villagers or Piglins, although the Demons at least have more contact with the Piglins. Villagers tend to live out in the middle of nowhere. Partly because they tend to prefer to stay apart, but also because of… wait for it- LORE REASONS.

Or in other words, world history reasons. Not the world history that is like: oh we had a war and hate each other. But more the sort of history that just naturally means that there is vast physical distance that ain’t being crossed any time soon.

Why are you not explaining literally anything?

Shhh. I like keeping secrets, it’s in my nature (apparently).

There are also some human-like races that aren’t human, technically Demons are one of them, but there are others. Haven’t completely finalised that stuff yet though, so you ain’t getting a list yet.

Magic System?

Yes.

I haven’t decided how it’s going to work yet though. Lol.

Okay don’t give me that look, most of my stories are far more developed then these ones, but these ones are like ultra new, and so ya know… not a lot of depth yet. Which is why you get to see them, because the ultra developed ones- well. Those are novels in the making.

The fact that this is so underdeveloped actually has potential to be a boon for you, if you like filling out forms.

Secrets >:D

I’m intending on developing this magic system around the powers I want characters to have, and while I do have some stuff kinda floating about… not enough to go and put together a full magic system. I mean I could sit down design a magic system, and write the characters and the story to the magic system, but I prefer doing it- not the other way around but like half way there.

*thinks* I’ve totally done it fully the other way round, but that was like fanfiction and I took a sledgehammer to the plot to make things make sense so it doesn’t really count. Things bent in both directions.

Anyway, magic system will come. Several probably, because different peoples have their own things going on.

Plot…?

*thinks* Well there is an interdimensional war going on… *thinks some more* yeah I got nothing else.

Okay but seriously, most of my vague ideas do revolve around that war. And at the end of the plot the war will probably be over? Who knows how that’s going to look though. It’s still open! And uh I think that’s it folks-

What…? Why are you all glaring at me like that…

Oh I didn’t talk about the… eldritch stuff. Look, the void is The Void and I dunno. I wanted to keep that aspect of The End front and center. I mean it’s cool, but low key, also a little creepy. Which is fun! Right guys?

As of now, that’s basically all you need to know about that universe. Disappointing maybe. But eh, work in progress.

The uh Magical Universe

Story Number Three! Somehow I think this one might have more in it to tell you about, against all odds.

Since this one is NEW. About a week old. So uh, yeah. And it’s about a trope, which I have never seen in action. Ish. I’ve seen adjacent things to the trope. Just not that in particular.

Anyway, magical girls and magical boys the Strange way. How does it work?

Well in this world, everyone has this thing- working title focus. If you know MLP, think cutie mark, except instead of being well- a cutie mark, it’s a necklace that appears when someone figures out what they are all about. Well. When they discover something that they are more or less all about, most of the time it takes much longer to actually understand what that thing they ‘are about’ actually means.

Anyway, on top of looking cool, these focuses allow you to transform into a superpowered version of yourself that has… wait for it… magical abilities.

Does this mean almost everyone has access to magical powers? Yes. But a majority of people don’t get powers which are awfully relevant to fighting, or powerful/useful period, and transforming isn’t easy, usually gets more difficult as you get older, particularly if you don’t do it a lot.

So essentially, even though the average person technically has access to it, they don’t necessarily actually have any effective superpowers. Also, children under the age of thirteen pretty much never do, and someone with a discovered focus under the age of sixteen is fairly rare.

Okay, I’ve said superpowers, what sort of superpowers do I mean?

Well sort of anything? But, the superpowers work in a very particular way.

In this world, there isn’t a strength gradient, or a ‘train and they get stronger’ mechanic. The only time the power gets stronger is as characters get a better understanding of themselves, thus leveling up/developing their focus, otherwise the strength is static.

Otherwise, to make the power work better they have to fulfil the requirements and avoid the foils of the power. For instance…

There is a character in this world who has a total mind control power which works only on people who have a focus, and can only be activated on someone when they are touching that person’s head. If those requirements are fulfilled the power works flawlessly every time. Regardless of the ‘mental strength’ etc etc of the person they are targeting.

Another example of a power, is that there is a character who has super strength, but when they get wet it weakens, in degrees depending on how much water is touching their skin.

Basically, this ‘magic system’ is very mathematical. Rather than being in-the-moment emotions based. Obviously the upgrades come from emotional development, but the powers themselves are very much not. Which is part of the reason that so many powers are so useless, particularly in a fight, because they have really easy weaknesses that make them pretty easy to counter and defeat.

But they might still be useful in other circumstances.

Okay. And is there any other world building things I need to cover? Oh. Yeah. There are gods and such in this world, not true for the last two. But there are gods in this one. *pauses* *thinks* It might be more accurate to call them spirits, or sentient representations of things or forces. They aren’t human, but the ones who interact with humans get pretty good at empathising with humans.

And that has nothing to do with the plot at all. Totally.

*thinks* Ironically, even though I do have more plot ideas for this one, I don’t think I feel like running through it. Huh. I’m a plot hoarder. Who knew.

Well that’s that. 4722 Words. Huh. I overestimated.

This was an experiment, and I have decided that it is a uh… well my conclusion is that I probably won’t do this again? This was actually really hard. It's way easier to figure out how to include all that information in a plot. Then just explain it.

Then again, I do hate writing explanatory stuff. So maybe that shouldn’t be surprising.

What do you think? Did you find The Secret? Comment down below and stuff.

I didn't even end up including spoilers...

OH! Bruce Willis! I know that movie!

Also, no, I don't think I found the secret yet, I am blind.
BUUUUUT yes, I know what it means to hoard lore until it bustles all out in snippets. 😅
That's... Those are pretty solid ideas here, yeah!

So even then, those are just great ideas, they sound fun.
