I cant really make a statement on what the BEST is. However my personal favourites are:
Fate Stay Night - and its other versions
Zombieland Saga
Kara No Kyoukai

There's a lot of good ones but the ones I liked most are Re:Zero, Attack On Titan and Evangelion.

Hard to pick just one
I really enjoyed the overarching themes of all versions of Evangelion and no piece of media has ever affected me or stuck with me quite like it. It has a lot of flaws so it's hard for me to say it's the best anime out there but it's my personal favourite just looking at it as an art piece. It is objective fact tho that it's the most popular anime of all time so if we're ranking by that then it wins I guess
Everyone should watch Mob Psycho 100 especially if you think it's gonna be stupid
FMA:B, Death Note, Sailor Moon, Inu Yasha, Hellsing Ultimate, and Naruto are all enjoyable classics too
On some lesser known titles I really liked School Live and Sunday Without God
Lots of good modern ones too like Attack on Titan has been amazing and I've mostly enjoyed Demon Slayer (some characters kind of ruin the show though)

None of those are my favorites but Naruto and One Punch Man are both good.

Best anime is Def ranking of the kings in story telling, though Boondocks, saiki k, and Ghost stories (DUB) are the best if you like comedy anime, but if you like more cartoony stuff, theres sailor moon, pokemon, digimon, and yo-kai
