Get a Toshiba Chromebook and install Chrubuntu, which is a form of Linux a free OS. You can download Mc on Chrubuntu and play it. Also chromebooks use SSD's instead of normal harddrives giving less memory but much more speed. I get no lag what so ever on my Chromebook.

Most Chromebooks are severely underpowered though. Last ones I saw had Celerons.

I bought my 2007 mac book for 800$ its a good price if you want a mac, but don't want to spend lots of money. But 2007 means that it basically is obsolete! It stills works great however... but I need to get around to fixing that battery... Hmm thanks for reminding me

Well, i bought my Lenovo G510 for about 400.

Its worth the extra money, it runs stable at 60 FPS on modded minecraft with 128x128 texture packs, and the build is very nice. I definately reconnmend it!

Oh yeah, i got the one with Intel i5 and Intel HD Graphics 4600.

EVERYBODY posting after me, please don't tell him to "Build his own PC!" He wants a laptop, let him get a laptop. (Or her)

You can build a custom laptop

Do that, but you're never going to milk 100+ fps out of it. You only need to go to 60, anyway. Anything above that is pointless because the human eye can't see anything past that.

Not really. It's extremely difficult to do, extremely hard to get the parts, and extremely pricey.

The human eye can see past 60 FPS. That is why I can tell a difference between a 60 Hz and a 120Hz monitor.

You can tell the difference, but it's a sharpness clarity when movement is going on. Nothing involving FPS. Anything above 60 is overkill anyway. All the HUGE production games run at 60 on consoles. (Cod, Battlefield, Halo, Skyrim, Etc.)

1. Consoles are lucky to hit 45 FPS
2. Most of the "HUGE" PC games can be set at what ever FPS you want. If your hardware can handle it.

I'm not going to try to convince you to build a PC. I'm just telling you what you should know before getting a laptop over a PC:

Desktop Pros:
-Better warranties (If you build the PC yourself)
-Better price/performance ratio
-Easy to upgrade
-Successfully booting up your first PC build is the greatest feeling in the world

Desktop Cons:
-Not-great portability
-Accessories required (Monitor, mouse, keyboard)
-Somewhat confusing to build if you're not following a video tutorial.
-Every part has to be purchased. There's sometimes that one part that takes months to arrive, causing tremendous mental stress.

Laptop Pros:
-Very portable
-One purchase, and you've got everything
-Very little setup required

Laptop Cons:
-Not great price/performance ratio
-Very difficult to upgrade some parts
-Battery life will shorten, reducing portability
-Lifespan is noticeably shorter than that of a desktop

I just wanted you to know these facts. I would usually recommend a desktop, but I don't want to make you get something you don't want.

I'll edit a laptop link into this reply in a few minutes. A laptop fitting your budget which will perform as well as you want will be hard to find.

I'm going to tell you something, that may surprise you. Most people know that and want laptops for portability reasons; they don't want them to get lectured about why they should get a desktop.
