Computer crashes

I'm having a problem with my computer, it keeps on crashing randomly. For example, when I'm in a skype call, it just freezes, and I have to restart my computer to fix it. I've scanned for viruses multiple times, and it hasn't shown up anything. Its not just in skype calls, its seems completely random. I'm using windows 7 professional. Can someone help?

Reinstall drivers, check temperatures. If it happens often enough, try running linux off a usb on the computer for some time. If it doesn't freeze, then it's windows related.

Have you checked your hardware isn't overheating? Are you running out of RAM? What do you mean by crashes, are these blue screens?
