So, I've been wanting to build a PC for awhile and I'm finally in a spot in my life where I'll be able to. Here's a build I made and ran through some friends but if I'll be spending so much I figured I'd ask here as well before I purchase later this week...

Original build: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/JbrXd6 (Amazon brings this down to $1,439)

What is this computer going to be used for?
Hardcore, daily gaming. 4+ hours a day of hardcore games.
What is your budget?
Keep it under $2,000, cheaper being better of course.
Where do you live? If in the US, do you have a nearby Microcenter/Fry's Electronics?
I live in the United States with no Microcenter nearby. I intend to order all of it off of Amazon.
What is included in the budget?
Just the PC tower.
Will you be overclocking?
No, I will not be overclocking.
Will you be reusing any parts?
I will not be reusing any parts.
What OS do you want?
I have a copy of Windows 8 I will be using.
Any specific case preferences?
I want a quiet, cool (temperature wise), full tower.
Any other special features that you want in the build?
I want an SSD to store the OS, a Hybrid to store the rest, as well as wifi capabilities.

put that 1x 8gb stick back to 2x4gb!

that means that if one fails your computer will still work!

I've been overlooking this, and I'm wondering - since I won't be overclocking, and this is purely for gaming (Heavy games that I want to run on ultra with a constant 60+FPS), would it be wise to switch to a lesser CPU? the i7-6800k is very nice however I'm unsure if I really need that much power. Thoughts? What could I switch it to? I'd prefer to stick to Intel,

As for the edit to two 1-TB hard drives and 8GB of ram - that seems good! I can always upgrade my ram in the future (As I plan to do every few years)

more hard drives is always better i have one for my files, one for my games (and soon one for my OS, then it can stop sharing with my HDD)

Thank you for the responses!

I was wrong at the start, I have access to Windows 10. I personally just prefer it over 8.

Go for Windows 10 its improving everyday and for PC gaming is the best due to things like xbox games now being playable on PC Windows 10 only. And to get those game you dont even need an Xbox!

I'm gonna just this. Wait for RYZEN. Benchmarks leaked that one of the RYZEN cpus are faster then the 6950x for about 500 bucks. And, another one thats faster then the 6800k for about 389 bucks.

Do you have access to an Ethernet cable? If you do, I would highly recommend that over wifi cards, you will have better ping(in most cases). It isn't that hard to wire one through a wall or 2!

I'm in high school still (18) and will be living with my parents for a few more years, so I don't know if I'd be able to route it through a wall.

I am, however, moving soon! So I potentially could have ethernet access but I won't know for 8-12 months.

this is based on my personal opinion when it comes to pc building, you don't have to listen to me if you don't want to, i have built a fair few gaming pcs in my time so i know what im on about

put that ram down to 8gb, in a gaming pc you don't need 16gb unless your planning to turn your pc into a server

i'd split that 2tb hard drive into 2x 1tb hard drives because its sad if your hard drive fails, there is room on your motherboard fo them and should be room in the case

and we gonna up that psu to something more durable, its also fully modular so you dont need to have loads of unneeded cables in your case

and i'd advise to not buy 100% from amazon, try following the plan on the partpicker list and buy from those sites, its usually a lot cheaper

aand i saved $27.12
