Hello,
I am looking for a good laptop under $300 to replace my MacBook which had a GPU fail.

I will use it for school and occasionally Minecraft.

I'd like it to be able to run Minecraft pretty good.

I already have a desktop, so I don't need one.

I don't need a gaming laptop. A normal laptop is fine.

seokjinI have a laptop that is under 300, it's a hp laptop my parents got me ;]
it's blue, and it's really good ;]
but it doesn't have a lot of space for games since its 21.36mb.
I could get Minecraft and mcskin3d on it though, and there's still a bunch of space left,

Edit - sorry if this doesn't have a lot of info ;]

I believe you have the HP Stream
I already bought it but ended up not liking it and just gave it to my parents. I'm going to go with the other laptop someone suggested. Thanks anyways.

OP, go with this. HD 5500 is pretty great as far as integrated GPUs go.

I was able to play Metal Gear Solid V on low settings at the laptop's native resolution (1366x768) at between 20 and 30 FPS, which is playable for that kind of game. However, that was with 16GB of dual-channel memory, so your mileage may vary on 4GB of single-channel.

How did you get your hands on it so fast o.o

Anyways, the only game I actually play is Minecraft so it shouldn't be a problem.

I have a Dell Latitude E7250 with an i5-5300U (basically the same as the 5200U, but with a clock speed bump and Intel vPro extensions that I don't use). I swapped out the stock 8GB of RAM for 16GB.

It's weird that the links aren't going anywhere for you, they are just regular Amazon.com links

The HP

#
The Toshiba
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00ZD8Q7OC/

EDIT: I messed up and both these links are the same
EDIT 2: Fixed the links now

A microsoft surface 2 should be good just buy a keyboard for it.

Just realized it has windows rt that can't run games unless its by microsoft.
This one has windows 8 on it so you can run minecraft on it and other non microsoft products http://www.amazon.com/Microsoft-Surface ... urface+pro btw you need to bye a keyboard for it if you want to type or you can use the on screen keyboard.

I'm sorry but I'm looking for a laptop, not really a tablet. However, I'll keep that in mind.

I actually have an HP stream but it's honestly not what I'm looking for so I gave it to my parents. I would like to look for a higher end laptop and I could go up to $400

Does it absolutely need to be a laptop? Less than $400 gets you an Alienware Alpha, which is probably the most powerful thing you'll get with your money. It doesn't have a built-in screen or keyboard, but it's very compact.

As good as the Alpha is, probably is a bit difficult to bring with you to school as well as peripherals

Some pretty decent-for-the-money laptops:

Toshiba Satellite C55-B5240X http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00ZD8Q7OC/
It has a Celeron which is the lowest of Intel's CPU line-up but it will do fine for school work and light minecraft play on low settings. The iGPU is definitely nothing to shout about so you won't be playing any high end games but you might get away with L4D2.

This HP laptop
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00ZD8Q7OC
It might suit you better if you are wanting to game as you are less likely to be limited CPU-wise with the A6-6310 as it is a 2ghz quad-core rather than the 2.16ghz Celeron dual core. Generally, the A6 will perform better than the Celeron in every task.

Thank you however both of the links you gave me lead to nothing

Your best bet is probably one of those cheaper laptops with an Atom or Celeron CPU. The HP Stream doesn't have much storage space but it's pretty good for the money (Something actually decent from HP? :O).
