2.)I agree, puzzles and missions. I think just a straight survival open world option would be cool, though, in addition to being able to do puzzles and missions.
3.) I don't play half-life and I'm not sure how that would work. I agree, the ending was solid and great, but if another great portal game came out, wouldn't you buy it?

We don't need a Portal 3. Not only do we have PETI, the story was finished off in a brilliant manner.

If Chell or Aperture ever show up again, the best way for that to happen is in Half Life 3.

Yeah, Giggimish is right, that sounds like a drastic move for the Portal series that no one would enjoy. Maybe a different game, but not Portal IMO.

That's not true. And if not aliens, what about some failed aperture experiment? Either way, I think blending the chase concept with portal would be really cool. It would get the player to think really fast about everything they did, and having it open-world could make for some seriously cool portal techniques that haven't been used before.

And don't be a pessimist. It could TOTALLY happen. Glados realizes there are aliens in the lab, captures Chell somehow, brings her back, and gives her the new portal gun. As they're escaping, Glados gets ripped to shreds and Chell barely escapes. Running away, she manages to get to a town, civilization, something like that.

You are correct, and thanks for responding. Maybe that's just the trouble, she doesn't have a usable portal gun, but finds out that Glados was keeping one that could place portals on any surface. When she goes back to get it she awakens the aliens. I was thinking about more of an open-world chase game utilizing the portal gun to get away from the predacious aliens hunting you.

Would she just be out in the open world or something?
Because the walls needed for the portals to be placed were made with moon dust (or something similar?) if I'm not mistaken.
