Hi. I was wondering if anybody with knowledge in computers could help me out with this. I came across an HP laptop (HP ENVY 15t-j100 Quad Edition) and it's about $700. The specs are:
Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit
4th generation Intel Core i7-4700MQ Processor
NVIDIA GeForce GT 740M Graphics with 2048MB of dedicated video memory
15.6-inch diagonal HD BrightView LED-backlit Display (1366x768)
8GB DDR3 System Memory (2 Dimm)
1TB 5400 rpm Hard Drive
...and it comes with some beats audio/fingerprint reading crap that I don't need. Do you think this is overpriced or not? Could this run Minecraft well? Last thing, would the 5400 rpm hard drive affect performance as apposed to a 7200 rpm one? Thanks

OMG That's my exact PC, I can tell you, it will run fine on Minecraft if you use Optifine it can run Portal, and other Valve games at a good fps and it's worth going for it!

Also.. The 5400 rpm hard drive would not effect most games.. But minecraft is not most games.. Minecraft has to save chunks ( on singleplayer) when they are tossed from memory.. So technically, yes. A slower HD will result in slower performance. I don't think your case will be an issue though.

Will it run minecraft? Yeah. Will it run it well? Not exactly in my idea of "well". Will it run it well for the price? Nope. You'd get about the performance out of a a10 APU.

Could you get a desktop? Or build a computer? Because that laptop is not nearly worth 750 dollars.

Thanks. I'm specifically looking at laptops, though. Also I made a mistake, it's $700 not 750, but I don't think that makes a difference.

Yeah, still a bit overpriced for what it is. You can get a good one with an APU for 500-600 dollars, or 800 and get a intel/apu + dedicated m290x

graphics card is kind of crappy.. but yeah. should be able to run minecraft without a sweat. Won't really play(well) graphically intensive games(newer games) , though.

I found a video of someone blaying bf3 with it with decent fps... around 30
