Hello,
I just purchased a xtx radeon 7770 and without realizing it my power supply is only 300 watts. On the box it says that the radeon is recommended to be 450 or higher.
So, what would happen if i used a 300 watts power supply with this card? Will it still work? If not what is a good video card that can run shaders fairly well at 300 watts?
Thanks,

It should work, that's just recommended with all the other components included in the "recommended",
It should be fine, if it doesn't have enough, it'll either shutdown at full load, or lower the power use-age.
If it does shut down a lot, then just buy a 500w PSU, you can get them for like 30 bucks.

Ok Thank you all, I will probably try the card with the 300 and see what happens, if it doesn't work I will purchase a new power supply.

Don't worry about cards that require 300 watts. It costs much much less to get a new power supply that supports more watts, than a card that your current power supply can handle, I have a power supply which is 750 watts, and it costs about 60 dollars.

It would either:
A: Not work at all because of lack of power.
B: Work, but because of lack of power, it would operate at lower performance.
A is most likely to happen.
Just buy a 450/500/550W PSU, they don't really cost that much. Make sure it is at least Bronze+.

I have no experience in graphics cards and stuff, but if I were you and was in this situation, I would probably end up buying a 450+ power supply if that's what they recommend.

Thanks, I'll take a look at some power supplies, but that still doesn't answer my question.
