Hey guys i always love the support from our computer savy community here and i was wondering what kind of perfomance i should be getting from this laptop. http://www.woot.com/offers/asus-15-6-to ... -i5-laptop

Side note: I relise this community frowns upon laptops but this was a unexpected gift and I do not plan on selling it to get a desktop even though it would be more powerful.

Thank you in advance!

This laptop has very similar specs to mine (I got a Core i5 2415M at 2.3GHz, 4GB RAM, Intel HD 3000, and a 320GB HDD), but with a better GPU. With the HD 3000 (with 384MB allocated RAM), I get 50-70 fps on Minecraft on high settings. That framerate drops down to 25-40 when running a medium weight modpack (110-150 mods).
The only other game I have to benchmark with is Skyrim, which I get 25-30 fps on with medium settings (with anti-aliasing off, and with 800MB RAM allocated to my GPU).
So basically, this laptop should be able to run MC just fine.

I have a samsung computer with almost same specs, (Mine has a better cpu and gpu and a larger hdd, others are same i guess) And i can run all games at full settings without any lag. The games you said including minecraft, will run just fine if you make the correct settings and keep your drivers updated.

i know my sister has a similar laptop and reaches 45-60 on normal minecraft with no mods and on normal render distance. you should be fine just playing normal minecraft on that pc. any other game you may want to consider buying a a gaming laptop. what is your budget?

You'll get decent performance, nothing great, but nothing terrible.

Hard to tell. Normal minecraft, fast graphics, render: normal.. without any mods.. about 30-60 fps. Not really a great laptop, but its fine.
