My fist experience was in creative. I learned to fly, and then, once I was very high up, I didn't know how to go down again! So I flew around for what felt like ages, and finally I found a mountain just high enough that I could place blocks on it! So I built my first oak wood house!

remember when I literally started a whole new world whenever it was dark or heard monsters or my health regened since the herobrine thing was blowing up when i started playing on pe.

I hid in a hole in the side of a mountain, listening terrified to the sounds of monsters without knowing what they looked like or how close they were, then chickened out and switched to Peaceful. The next day I created a spiraling mineshaft downward, then fled up to the surface in terror because it started raining and I thought the sound was my mineshaft flooding. I surrounded a lake with torches because they made the water look pretty at night. I planted some seeds, and was SO VERY CONFUSED when the tree I planted just burst into existence. Finally, I made a second hole in the other mountain across the water, and connected the two with a minecart bridge (after looking up how to make it start and stop when I wanted it to). That was the entirety of my first world.

Haha, nice!:D

Singleplayer survival. Creative mode wasn't a thing yet.
I remember building a small birch house, then a tree house and later a nice viewpoint from behind a waterfall. All of it was in a valley between mountains I had found. After that, I started building a project that would be a hotel but I never finished that. Those are really my first Minecraft memories. 😊

I started in Survival, I did not know how to play the game, so I went around hitting animals until night fell. Then I died...
1
Haha I was watching videos of the game before I started playing so that didn't happened to me... Right?:p
2
Well, after that I didn't play the game for half a year. I read and watched games.
1
Ahh:D And do you still play / play again now?

Yeah it was a while ago for me too.

The first thing I did in minecraft was start a house on an island. Most of the time Minecraft drops you off somewhere hospitable, but I was in an ocean next to a desert, so it was several days before I ever saw a passive mob.
3
I started playing in creative : i found a village and i tried to build a giant house with jungle planks.
1
Awesome! :D I started in a jungle too!
3
jungles were literally the worst thing ever to be added, i remember when i first got minecraft for the pc i would always literally just spawn in a jungle with a vast empty ocean
1
Yes and you couldn't just fly through them with an elytra so. Boats were so bad too
2
The first thing that I have done was launching the game lol.
The first thing I built was a...you know.

Started in Survival, back in the Infdev days in 2010ish
I remember building a little wooden house next to a small pool of water.

I remember getting on a creative land, I hadn't of touched any of the controls/options for the land. (this was on my brother's account sometime in 2013) And I built a 2D grass block. But technically I had placed a grass block first. Sooo I guess my first build was a grass block (the actual block) Ha.

haha:D

I remember starting on an early demo version of Pocket edition on my 2nd gen iPod touch. Damn I played the hell outa that demo. Making world, making sure my iPod didn't run out of charge and loose the world. It was fun. Then the game become quite popular and my step dad had an xbox 360, so i got the Xbox 360 Edition of MC. Creative it was!
2
I dug a hole and I lived in it.
1
Ha-ha
2
First thing I had built was this huge lodged house that was in a mountain, because of the weird generation they had happening in the old versions the mountain had a huge chunk of it taken out.
1
Yeah bugs were a big part of the game.

When I started on Minecraft in around 2012, I was on my brother's world where he'd built an "underground" house (the wooden roof was exposed and I was told off for covering it), and his friends had each built their own houses. The first thing I did was carve a house into a cliff face next to a bay with windows shaped into my initials (MJR). I then built a 21-storey skyscraper (which took a while in survival, plus my brother helped me with the cobblestone and glass for the cladding) which was located just down the coast. I followed that up with a mansion on the other side of my brother's area along with a small statue, before finishing with a sports arena and a 15-storey hotel and casino. To this day I'm told by my brother that I somewhat ruined his world haha
2
Haha that's cool!:D

I started playing a few months ago and have recreated my favourite childhood Movie Goonies in creative mode with a few added bits.
Started by creating the Old Summer House with the basement fire place leading down into a tunnel with trip wires but instead of boulders dropping I've used pistons to push/drop a lot of gravel. This is leading into a small cavern which is the wishing well, then that leads to another tunnel to a maze and again to an opening with the skull mouth. leading to three winding tunnels with traps and a rushing underground river with a log crossing, if you fall in and don't jump out quick enough you end up in a tight tunnel being pushed deeper and unable to jump resulting in death. The log crossing leads to a cave with 6 levers. 1 lever opens a sliding rock. 2 levers make parts of the floor disappear resulting in a deep dark drop of death, if you happen to survive it then there's a way out but you'll have to traverse a lava fissure. The sliding rock wall leads to two steep tunnels with running water which push you down and out of a waterfall into a huge cavern with a big pirate ship. This is my first ever creation in Creative Mode.

Thank you, I'm working on a World to be hosted on a Survival Server, in the middle of a massive Indiana Jones survival adventure after finding 4 connected large fissures. with traps, broken track that needs fixing, faces that need climbing with obstacles, caves with parkour and mod traps. last fissure is a trove of ores and treasure. many minecart drops and dark places. fast minecart riding.
Worked, working on many more things, don't want to give it all away though. It's going to be epic.

Reading the comments brought back a lot of memories. I started on PE. My friend introduced me to the game and taught me how to build a tree house. I thought it looked stupid so we built a squid together. My first time playing survival freaked me out. I didn't know that you were supposed to sleep since there was no "night" at the moment in creative. I die every time a mob attacks and didn't know how to fight back. I dug a hole in the ground and hid until I was too bored so I created a new map. I didn't even know torches existed back then. I still remember when I first dyed a sheep. It was an accident. I was holding some dye that I made from flowers, then a sheep walked in front of me and the "dye" button appeared. I was so amazed. I loved discovering new things about minecraft. Fun times. Sadly I can't play anymore.

Ahh so happy to read comments like yours!:D

I first started playing around version 1.3.2, using an "unofficial" minecrfaft version *cough*.
But I love the game so much! So I've bought it when I finally had some money to spare. I don't really remember much about my first time playing minecraft as I was little and also cuz my memory is terrible x(
I do remember that I started in Survival mode. Now I do Survival, Creative, Modded Survival, SMP and I create builds, mods and datapacks. It's been a long journey and a lot of things have changed, but my love for this game hasn't :3

when i first started, i got a crap tone of cobblestone and made a ghast proof house (because i thought ghasts could spawn in the overworld xD) fun fact i hated diorite, andesite, and granite.
1
Ahhh so you joined around 1.8?
2
no, I joined in 1.11.2.... I am a newcomer xD but i still thought ghasts could spawn in the overworld.
1
Hahaha
2
I first started in creative mode on a flat world and later discovered a world fullof oceans and land masses and began my first few survival projects there. After creative mode.
2
Dupe Machines in 1.5-1.6 were amazing
1
Yes versions before 1.7 were full of bugs.. gotta abuse them :P
2
Heh, I remember building a "camp ground" in creative (was literally just an oak log i set on fire) and trying to blow up a mountain. Then I remember going into survival mode in hard difficulty, I made sand into sandstone thinking it was useful, then dying to 20 mobs trying to kill me.
1
I think I started around the survivaltest days
1
I actually started playing by my friend on an Xbox... Man that was long ago XD. But we always just had some fun in those demo worlds, and later in creative worlds. Then I eventually got my pc, and then MC on pc.
1
First thing was a mud hut (dirt blocks)... Then a cave home. I had to hide from the zombies and creepers.
1
Straight in the deep end in survival mode aye.
1
aye....
1
I went to the options menu and changed the controls.
