What do I do with a windows 8.1 ISO?
So, I have a legal version of windows 8.1 .iso with a key product. Does this mean If i build another computer I can install windows 8.1 on it?

Ah, sorry. Only with 8. I bought two disks for $40 each at Best Buy when they first came out. Used them on quite a few different computers since then. The upgrade from 8 to 8.1 is free, so I never needed to buy a new one.

You can transfer your license from one computer to another. Sometimes it'll even let you activate it 2-3 times.

How do you know this?

With windows 8 MS changed how they verify Product Keys. Every time a Key is used, it is checked against their database of distributed keys. If it is found there, it is then checked against their database of used keys. If it passes both tests, the key can be used on a computer. So, the question is, have you already used the key? If so, then the key wont work.

You don't need to buy another windows 8.1 disk, or key. it will work.

No. You have to buy another copy of windows 8.1 to put it on that. The key is invalid once you used it
Well then why do people do it?
