If you can't cancel it, your most cost-effective solution for the short term would be to buy a new motherboard, case, and power supply. The best long-term solution is return/sell it, grab a Pentium, a B85 or H97 motherboard, a case, and a power supply, and buy a graphics card whenever.

Your CPU is FM2. Your motherboard is LGA1155. Make sure your CPU socket fits your MoBo socket

You don't have an FM2 socket. Your E1-2100 is on socket BGA769, which is a laptop socket. I'd cancel that APU order because it's not going to work in your motherboard, let alone fit in the socket to begin with.

GrizzlyMCWhat? What the heck?

@CaptainMurica

http://www.amazon.com/AMD-7600-Graphics ... sor+fm2%2B

I don't have a GPU so this wont matter. If i get one, ill get a new power supply. Wtf are you talking about? I can put a GPU in my MOBO. . . I dont need to build a whole new pc for this.

" you will need to buy a new power supply, which means you'll need a new case"
They are saying that to replace the power supply you would need a new computer case, as your "HP Pavilion Slimline" won't be able to fit a standard power supply module. His point may be valid, a case upgrade might be needed to fit a new power supply. It depends on the size you get. However, you will not need a new mobo. A micro-ATX will fit inside a standard ATX case. Hope this helps.

that makes sense, but are you absolutely sure theres no way to fit a new power supply in? maybe smaller ones?

What CPU did you get? You might have bought one that will stress the power supply enough that you won't be able to power a GPU. If you want to add in a GPU, you will need to buy a new power supply, which means you'll need a new case, which means you may need a new motherboard (if it's not a standard size).

Why are so many manufacturers sticking low end mobile CPUs in desktop computers? Gateway and HP confuse me.

OP, your computer can *probably* handle a 750 Ti, but because of the slim form factor you will either need to spend extra for a low profile version of the card or get a new case. If you're going to buy a new case though, you might as well replace the CPU and motherboard (and the power supply because your current one won't fit in a normal width case) so the 750 Ti won't have to deal with the CPU bottleneck that is the E1-2500.

In short, you have two options: get a low profile 750 Ti and hope your power supply won't flip a table, or do a near-complete system overhaul.

Guys, the GPU he has right now is integrated into his CPU, because he has an APU. If the throws that out, there goes his "good" gpu. (which isn't even that good).

What i'd do is buy a new GPU, and PSU (because your PC seems to be a low power PC), then get a CPU later down the road. Or you can build a whole new computer for cheaper honestly.

First, tell us what your PSU is, then we can suggest a gpu for you, that'll help.

And honestly, you could build a computer for around 600 that is 10x faster than your computer.

That CPU does run games decently, runs BF4 at medium settings at 30fps in 720p. So you should run normal Minecraft at 60+ fps with Optifine, but with shaders don't expect a 30fps at fullscreen though.

That graphics card will definitely improve your gameplay, and without shaders you'll easily get 60+ FPS, when running shaders you'll probably drop down to about 30-40 FPS, due to your CPU. Because of chunk rendering, Minecraft does rely about 40% on CPU, so if you just upgrade it to even just a £50 intel pentium you'll get way better performance even with shaders. Hope I helped!

They thought your computer was a laptop which can hardly be upgraded.

But if you really want to upgrade your CPU instead of GPU then we need to know your motherboard. Or tell us your Computer model (Should be on the tower somewhere). Most motherboards in HP, Dell, etc.. computers usually have a OEM motherboard making CPU upgrades very limiting.

Your CPU is a socket FM. You appear to have a laptop. Not much upgradability there, at least not for the CPU. So... I don't really know what to do. I can get 60FPS in vanilla on my Mid-2013 MacBook Air (no, that is not my gaming computer...) and its specs are as follows:

CPU: 1.7 GHz Intel Core i7
RAM: 8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
GPU: Intel HD Graphics 5000 1536 MB
MoBo: Doesn't say.

Use those stats to figure out what you should change, or alternatively... Build a gaming PC. I build mine on a budget of $800, below are its specs.

CPU: AMD FX-6300 Vishera 6-Core 3.5GHz (4.1GHz Turbo) Socket AM3+
RAM: Crucial 12GB DDR3
GPU: MSI R9 270X GAMING 2G Radeon R9 270X 2GB
MoBo: ASUS M5A97 LE R2.0 AM3+
PSU: Corsair CX500M 500 Watt Power Supply
Also got a random Asus wifi card. Can't forget the wifi card. Oh yeah, and a 1TB Seagate Barracuda. And a case. It has to be ATX so it fits the mobo.

Good luck!

This is the processor im getting, it is cheaper than the card. Thank you for answering everyone.

SirEnderIIIEven though games are moving the 4 threads my old athlon 64 x2 is still running these newer titles very well.

While AMD does have cards that out performs NVIDIA cards it all comes by the display drivers.

This ^^^

People seem to think that your GPU ultimately defines your FPS, basically having a good GPU simply cancels out the fact that you have a slow processor. Of course, as you said, this isn't the case, especially with the multithreading used by many games these days.

And I'm not entirely sure, but I think the Athlon 64 X2 is multithreaded with 2 physical cores and 2 virtual cores, since two cores are placed on the same die with this chip. So, if I'm correct, the X2 has 4 total cores (2 virtual, but still cores).

I do believe you're correct. Your theory was also mine.

to my knowledge AMD doesn't have anything similar to hyperthreading so you'd just have 2 total cores. 2 physical and 2 logical.
1 physical core = 1 logical core, unless hyperthreading then 1 physical = 2 logical

tbh, i'd just scrap the computer and get a new one.
in this case, it'd probably be more cost effective.

the cpu is a problem, the memory is most likely a problem (3.5gb or 2.0gb are both problematic), and upgrading your graphics card will help solve one bottle neck of many others.

to increase your performance, you'll need to get rid of the bottlenecks.
without doing some sort of overhaul on this computer, I honestly don't see this PC ever reaching 30fps with shaders.

I was bouncing around 70fps when I took this, and my specs are much higher then what the OP listed... so i seriously doubt a 1.4ghz cpu will ever be able to crank out 30fps
