Are trailers really that important?
I was thinking about it and asked myself a question - are trailers for the beginning of a map (for example, a story map) really that important?
That is, if a viewer watches a trailer that shows the main points of a map, then they are more likely to download this map? (or whatever you made the trailer for).
Do trailers for the beginning of a game really attract more attention? What do are you think?

I don't know that trailers specifically are essential, but some form of preview so that the user is not downloading 'blind' would seem necessary.
Written description and pictures might work perfectly well (with the same stipulation about avoiding spoliers a trailer would have).
[That said, I'm likely the wrong demographic to ask having grown up when computer meant mainframe and phone ment a landline.]

I would say no, they spoil the surprise, but that's my personal taste. Most people probably like a preview of what to expect before committing the time.
