I am looking for you to post YOUR opinion, not what you've heard from critics, but what YOU think are some of the best movies ever made. I only ask for a minute of your time, and appreciate all comments I get. Thanks!

I'm sure you know what I'm going to say: The Original Star Wars Trilogy. I've begun to appreciated the Prequels, I just plug my ears when Jar Jar Binks is on the screen. The Sequels are trash though.
However, I do have some other favorites:

Individual Films, not trilogies, quadrilogies or box sets.
Aliens - Sigourney Weaver
Last of the Mohicans - Daniel day Lewis
Gladiator - Russell Crowe
The Foreigner - Jackie Chan
Blood Father - Mel Gibson
Suicide Squad - Margot Robbie
Ransom - Mel Gibson
Death Wish - Bruce Willis
Edge of Darkness Mel Gibson
There's the best ever Dad gets revenge movies in there, they always bang on about a Mothers wrath, well it's nothing on a Fathers wrath.

I've answered in a similar thread with a laundry list of films but I think I'll narrow it down to Star Wars: A New Hope. Great soundtrack and visuals, etc., but I think its strength is in its uncomplicated, universal themes. Hardly a hot take, but personally ANH might be my favourite execution of the "hero's journey".

I agree with the points you mentioned. However, among other problems I found with the movie upon my rewatching it recently, I found Luke to be a lot more of an annoying brat than I remember, which kinda made it feel hard to like him as our protagonist. I also felt Han's arc was rushed, Darth Vader to be painfully bland, and overall, the movie doesnt hold up as much as I remember. I respect those who love this as I can see why, though.

Fair points, I'm certainly more fond of the characterisations in Empire (tbh, I think I prefer Empire as a Star Wars movie).
As a bit of further elaboration, what's sort of endeared me to ANH is how resolved it feels as a standalone fantasy story: The ambitious youth and his mentor set out, gather a crew of unlikely heroes, partake in a larger battle between good and evil and eventually thwart the imposing villain. Grade A hero's journey. Maybe I'm a sucker for contained films in the age of sequels (tho I certainly enjoy multi-film sagas).
Thanks to this thread, I'm due for some re-watches 👍👍👍

Frozen (ITS FROZEN), Kong skull island (it has tom Hiddleston in it need i say more?), Miss Peregrines home for peculiar children (i've read 3/4 of the books and although the movie is NOTHING like the books i love Tim burtons spin on the characters and the world), Kimi no Na Wa (the plot is unique and amazing plus this song is stunning and somehow sums up the whole movie with no words), howls moving castle (this movie is charming and well-drawn, easily one of my if not my favorite Ghibli movie), fast and furious 7, Mary Poppins returns (the songs are so good and its very funny a brilliant and long-awaited sequel to a movie I loved when I was a lot younger), Christopher Robin, Paddington 1, Paddington 2, Porco Rosso, the wind rises (it has A BEAUTIFUL soundtrack )
