Expanding your minds of what you call a server.
This is not a brag post, but a simple and somewhat meaningless post aswell. but I though i'd amaze people by telling them that there is actual servers in a few datacenters that run on racks of 6TB RAM.

What do you think about this ridiculous amount of hardware?

Of storage, not RAM

What, are you running 1000 instances of insanely resource-intensive games like PlanetSide 2 at the same time?

I myself don't own/rent the hardware, just sharing that this stuff exists with others.

The only good thing I could see with having 6TB of RAM would be being able to SAY you have it.

Yeah, lol

The most ram is the best aha

More ram doesn't always equal better.

And you'll never need more than 200GB at a maximum.

Its actually fairly good, Except for the IPMI Interface. Hardware is great, Software is.....ugh

In my experience... supermicro server hardware breaks WAY too often to use in production.

Running 2 supermicro X9SCD's, E3-1270v2 and 1240v3, Had the 1270v2 over 10 months, pretty stable, no issues. just ipmi crapping out.

I've had 2 brand new servers fail on me at the same date in 2 different data centers.

Which? PhoenixNAP with CubedHost is pretty good.
