Not trying to hurt your feelings or anything, but if you think that creating modifications will be great coding experience, you're definitely wrong. It will obviously help, but the concepts of modifying a game are so easy, anyone can do it with two tutorials. If you are really certain you want to go into Computer Science, I would definitely look into some developing practices with Java such as game developing or even Application developing for iOS and Androids.

Errr, I see no profit involved here, otherwise I would be coding up mods like craaaazy.
Anyways, adding onto what all these people said, you need a basic understanding of Java. So I would recommend searching up some YouTube videos on Java. Good luck.

Adf.ly links can be profit. Also if people donate (rare) thats profit. Also if you are monetized on youtube that is profit. Also coding experience instead of leeching is a profit if you are going into computer science like me.
