Hunger Games | CONSTRUCTION PHASE

So, guys, I recently started posting on the forums. Hai!
Anyway, there's a lot going on about the new Hunger Games movies, and there always has been people going on about the great book series. (Btw, to me, the books weren't that good for me. The ending of the last book made me pay the library $9.50). Anyway, my friends at school have been doing a really fun thing with the Hunger Games, (called the Miner Games).
1st BiMonthly games were a total fail. It lasted 5 minutes. End of Story.
2nd BiMonthly games were also a fail, but not as much. It lasted a full 20 minutes, but I happened to die because everyone attacked me at once. I know. Not fair.
The third one I'm supposed to plan, and I was thinking we each got in a minecart, and it would take us to our chest, we'd punch the chest, and run. Each District would get a doublechest for the two people on the team. No spawnkilling, etc. It would be a completely random generated world, but it would be cut off at a 250 block diameter glass dome.
What do you think?
Anyway, the movies are coming out, and I haven't seen it yet, so if you've seen it, or are planning to see it, please, tell me your viewpoints on Katniss Everdeen and the book series.

EDIT 2: No more recruiting, 24 slots have been filled up. We now need a server, and possibly gamemakers. If you could lend us your server, and whitelist it for just one day each month, please contact me. Thanks
EDIT 3: Server gotten, now just building and setting up plugins. Whitelisted people may get on at any time to see progress. By the way, here's the spreadsheet to people who have been admitted:

Alright guys, the server is up. Anyone that applied recently should read some of the thread, all 24 positions were filled up, and we have 3 game makers. Next month we shall have another recruitment on this same post, so it's basically first come first serve.

hey i was talking to my friends at school about this exact same thing. im thinking it would be a good idea. Here's how we planned it:
every week we start a new game. There would be a 1000+1000 dome of glass and we would whitelist a certain number of people (24) and they would be spawned in a random world. it would be pvp no factions and there would be a clearing at spawn. there we would make a cornucopia of obsidian and have a bow, some arrows, a few swords, and a few axes. they would fight to the death until there was one survivor and the next week there would be a new game. This would be a hardcore server, so when u die, u cant come back until the next game is hosted. as for the sound of the cannon, there would be a bedrock sphere and some1 would, everytime it says "Soandso was slain by soandso," they would detonate a single block of tnt.

Woah, 1000x1000 dome?! Dang! That would create probably a server crash, and I was thinking of making it a map naturally spawned, maybe 250-300 in diameter, and we'll see. If the map is too small, we can definitely increase the size of it for sure. The players spawn with 8 steak, and a wooden sword, so they can break the chests twice as fast.
Again, I read the previous posts, that we should allow "dead" players to see the rest of the game, until it had ended. The top three players would be posted on a leader board on a blog post made by me. And if people try mining out, we can have a bedrock dome under the glass one as well.
