Everyone agrees the america is imperfect. with one exception, Nothing in the universe is. But what do you think?

Ambiguous…
Taking 'America' in the posed question to be the USA (a usage not always appreciated by Canadians, Mexicans, etc), one would still need to differentialte between the idea of the country (to which the answer would be yes), the government ['Federal'] (to which the answer would be that there are many 'opportunities for improvement') and the citizens (which show the full range of the human spectrum, but tend towards decent enough) .

SELF CONSIDERS THE NATION OF AMERICA TO BE FUNDAMENTALLY AMBIGUOUS.

I think our government needs a lot of improvement. And, I know I will get a lot of hate for saying this, but I am a Big Trump Supporter. I think our country will never be perfect, with all these evil people in/ trying to get in the government like, Hillary Clinton. If she had won the '16 election, Not many of ous would be here on this poll -Spoiler- We'd all be dead.

uhm. idk why I clicked on this.. because uh.. I don't live in America..
1
well, then you'd have a less biased opinion.
3
I mean, we have McDonalds?
2
Well... Just about most places on the entire planet could really use some improvements, but human habit seems to be to try and fix what's wrong, when it's already gone wrong.
Which, seen from a pessimistic view means: No matter what we do, the world will only get worse and we're all doomed.
Seen from a positive view: The world will never be perfect, but will in that sense open up for creative minds, creative solutions, purpose, power, wealth, mistrust, trust, love... An interesting and challenging life. Not just a "sit back everything is perfect" but a world where you can make a change if you try hard enough.

why are you asking this on a minecraft forum...?

This isn’t just a Minecraft website, it’s for Minecraft fans. You don’t have to write about just Minecraft.

Ethically speaking, there is no such thing as fundamentally good. Everything is flawed in some way, some more than others. America just frickin yeeted away from Britian because they're jerks, pretty cool if ya ask me.

I meant more good than bad. you mean perfect. only LEMONS are perfect.

2 things:
Racism and the electoral college
They are just, let's say, broken af

If Trump had won the popular vote but the electoral college had resulted in Hillary winning in 2016, would you still think it was a broken system?
1
Yes, because trump won more votes than Hillary did, but Hillary still won even though trump should have won in that scenario.
But I don't get what point you are trying to make, because this is a classical example of what can actually happen with the electoral college.
(And, it can result in a tie(even the thing that votes when there is a tie, can have a tie as outcome) another bad thing btw)

electoral collage isn't that bad. it stops the crowded states from dominating elections.
1
I'm not saying that that part is bad, because that is good (just maybe there shouldn't be a minimum of votes per state) but it's mainly the fact that the people that get elected per state don't have to say what their state voted for. And there can be a tie, which also isn't good XD

who was this written for? me?

Absolutely! Never before was a society built on the notion of individual liberty. While imperfect in its evolution, It was the first in an era of imperial dominance of a few over the many around the world. No other country has quite duplicated the level of individual freedom, mobility, and entreprise. More people have prospered under this system than any other in history. Period.

What does "fundamentally good" mean? Is it meant to be like "mostly good" or "good with a few exceptions" or what does it really mean? It's such a vague formulation.
And what's even more important to answer this question: what exactly is "good"? This may sound like a dumb question, but you need a definition for "good" that can be widely accepted so there is a point of reference in the discussion. If you don't set up a general definition for "good" there will be as many definitions of "good" as there are poeple.

i meant more good than bad. and i take good to mean moral.
1
Okay. Then you still have to define what is morally good :/
I know this is super difficult because there are many aspects to it (we had to do it in school once and it took forever) but I want to show that this question is not that simple to answer because of how people understand words differently.
Something you consider good might be bad for someone else but you don't notice and keep believing what you're doing is good and vice versa. That's why it needs a definition everyone can relate to - also the guy you harmed without noticing.

i dunno i guess. you got a suggestion?
1
Ha xD
Definitely not. And that's the problem: in my opinion there is no definition of "good" that can be accepted by everyone, so any argument revolving around if something is "good" or not will always stay an accumulation of subjective views. There is no objective answer like "Yes, this is good" and it would be true for everyone.
So, all we can do here is make our own standpoint clear and ask others why they have the opinion they have, but you can't falsify any of those opinions because the definition of "good" is missing. This means theoretically all opinions were true, which can't be true because two opposing opinions can't both be true and still be opposing xD
This discussion about whether something is good or not will therefore never come to an end. That's what I wanted to say.
I still encourage everyone to tell what they think about the topic. We might learn from it ^^

I am English, but whenever I've visited everyone in America has been very friendly. The Americans that I have met on my travels have been nothing but friendly.

Are we talking about captain america? He is fundamentally perfect.

Right now in this current state, I'd say both. Sure, America has done a lot of good for itself and is quite friendly, too, but like everything else in life, it's got some flaws. I believe the poor and middle classes should be given benefits while the higher class stays the same in it's riches. That way, everyone can be happy, and once the middle class isn't shrinking anymore, their benefits become optionally limited until the problem shows up again. Another thing is that our poor education system has left many to be, well, not so bright, and it can be one of the main reasons why people drop out, do stupid things like taking drugs, or if they get through it, don't retain information easily when they become adults. I'm not saying we should make school stricter, but instead allow students to learn at their own pace and give information in a fun, encouraging way, while leaving the bigger tests to be done on the building's last grade (ex; A middle school's last grade is 8th, and a test is issued on the very last day). Sometimes, you just got to look at the cause of the problem in order to solve it's effects, and most presidents (or congressmen/congresswomen/congressLGBTs) glance over these and provide minimal and sometimes temporary solutions at best, and I believe it's the only way this country can be less flawed than before.
3
i agree for the most part. The education system could definitely be better, but the rich get rich through hard work (in america at least). to give them higher standards than the rest is to undermine the incentive to succeed. and that would drastically hinder progress.

Well, not everyone can afford to send their children to a private school' so they will have to send their child to a public school.

Yes, it is becoming a big problem in Kentucky. That doesn’t mean that it should be destroyed. It needs to change, that’s all.
