Lego Minecraft
So PCGamer announced today that Lego minecraft is going on sale in the summer at £/$35. I thought this was reasonable, until i saw the size.

What do you think, is that a reasonable amount of lego for your money? And how do you feel about Lego minecraft in general? Do you like the idea? Will you buy it?

I am not a huge fan. I was kind of anticipating that there would be new items- instead of just a set of regular Legos that you could build a Minecraft-Esque world with, I was looking forward to Lego blocks that looked like Minecraft blocks. What can I do with this set that I can't already do with the Lego bricks in my closet? Couldn't we have some grey cubes with pixely stone texture on the side? Maybe hinged, cubic chests? Maybe some transparent blue and orange cubes for lava and water? I think that the Lego Minecraft sets do NOT live up to the feel of Minecraft and I will NOT be buying them.

Damn.... the american legolands suck arse compared to those crazy pieces... that's the one in Billund or Windsor? Probably Windsor from the looks of that second pic.
But really.... damn.

Yeah, the kid is 12 years old, and his stickers have won so many toy awards... he's even been on the Conan OBrian show.
And they're like $6 a pack, and they're reusable. Brilliant!
PS: I DID email him about the Minecraft idea.

Wow a kid designed that?
yeah, it'd be smarter if lego just bought that idea and reused that instead of the idea they implented now... just my opinion

a full-sized lego kit would probably cost in the $50 range as well, it's more the number of blocks than the actual size of them.
Now... if someone were really smart... and had an entreprenurial spirit... I would suggest making mini-stickers you could put onto your current lego blocks to make them into minecraft blocks. IE: ore patterns, creeper faces, Steve faces... piggy and cow faces...

were designed by a kid... smart kid. Maybe I should email him about the minecraft idea.

That set there is pretty good. To be honest if i brought it, it would probably just gather dust. I like building planes/spaceships out of lego, and i like that, i know that if it gets smashed up, i can just rebuild it, this seems very limited as to what you can do
1
It is nice, but i think it is way overpriced and is being used as a mutual benificial marketing method, you could do the same with normal lego, but then it'll be bigger, a bit more chunky. Minecraft is just digital lego

I don't know why... but I thought it end up looking more like this....
you know except for with the minecraft sized figures instead of the lego man and skeleton. (Pig seem pretty accurate)
But oh god.... if that small set is 35-50$ how much would this one be?!?!?!

I see what they did there.... using the 'connection' pieces to expand the world... they are little chunks!

I thought it was danish, that aside, i see where your coming from now with the price. However i probably wont buy it. There seens to be a general lack of block types and mobs, i there were more blocks, id consider it, but for the moment ill stick to the lego i already have
P.S carole did you get my PM?

I did get your PM.... and I'm GUESSING that they will create mini-mobs later if people really like the stuff for you to buy separately. Because moar money=happy Mojang

So both the US and us in the UK pay £/$35 That means we have to pay more (it should be £22.20 if its $35 if they were being fair). - i've still pre-ordered it though
1
it's likely because it's being shipped from the States that they're charging you more. Meany pants.
1
I ordered one using my dad's money, hoping he wouldn't find out. He found out, and said order him one too.

well, you get all 4 of the mini-sets for that... and the mini-lego is far more expensive than the regular lego. I feel they missed out on making stair blocks, skellie, spider, pig, cow, chicken, etc.... that needs to be there. it ain't minecraft without the zombies either.
these are the modulex bricks...
this architectural set (gorgeous)
is $249.00. You get 420 bricks in the Minecraft set, for $55, that's about average for Lego. Yeah, I'll probably be buying it.
