I'm not quite sure where to post this. This isn't a ghost in the code, and it's not really that Minecraft related, so I'll just post it here.




OldRoot originated when someone got a PM on Reddit containing a dark image. They asked for help on /r/Minecraft. Someone brightened the image, which contained a link, which contained even more clues to the next link. And so on.

What's the purpose of this? Well, there's no real purpose. It's a wild goose chase. But it's fun. I also guess you could say it's a learning experience; learn about different ciphers and how to crack 'em.

How can I help? Well, you should start by reading the history. You can find it here. Once that's done, look at the latest clues here and read some theories in the comments. Pitch in your own theories. Try to solve the puzzle.
