What are your expectations when looking for a new MC Server?

Hey, guys!
Along with my team, we're planning to launch a new Minecraft server and build a community around it. Unfortunately, we've been out of the loop for some time and we're not with the cool kids anymore. Therefore we're asking you for help!
When you're looking for a new Minecraft server to play on with your mates, what are your expectations? What gamemodes/minigames are you looking for?

I personally prefer anarchy servers. It's basically an individualistic PvP gamemode with very few rules (besides the obvious ones like "don't cheat", etc) and no factions. But if you want a successful server you should probably try something factions. I feel like that's what most players like.
