What is "Brainrot" and What Content is this Considered to be Categorized?announcement
Genuine question, cause I'm not that generation with skibidi and rizz and what not. But what do you consider content to be brainrot?
I see my son watch videos that are absolutely random with overly saturated sound effects, I consider that Brainrot, but could it be other forms of content?
I ask because I showed some of my co workers my animation hobby, and despite their amusement they considered it as "Brainrot".
Grinds my gears just a tad, as I'm leaning more so towards animations like Meatcanyon, Odd1sout, FlasgGitz, ectcetera.
If you watched my animations, what would you consider them to be?

Bad and bad? Can you elaborate? Don't want my animations to be considered bad.
even if your animations are bad, the fact you understand that and ask for our feedback shows that you want to improve and youre not just content farming (making anything or stealing stuff just for views). In my eyes thats a sign of a good animator.
Thanks, never went to any school for it, just started watching stuff on Youtube. I'd use Blender if I had a PC that could handle renders, if I tried drawing it would look awful and really drive people away so Mineimator is what I'm left with.
But I know these animations are far from perfect, can only learn so much until I have to finally put it to use, I'd like to think I gain more understanding with each animation I create.

Well i have some tips, try and avoid making trendy jokes like nutshell animations (they make rubbish like "when you see a gyatt in class but the rizz is skibidi" and other incomprehensible nonsense like that), instead you can come up with original funny skits and stuff like odd1sout, meatcanyon, or mancarryingthing.

I have a lot of ideas on paper for animations I think are original, and do branch away from the typical meme use or the "Dont click on the sound" and shows them hit an iron golem for the 50th time just for it to look at a sunset ectcetera.
Releasing them once a week though, just to see how they are taken, that and the Tubes Algorithm does not make any sense.

Yes, the ones I created. The whole purpose of this post, to help determine if I should continue what some consider brainrot, or scrap and learn another animation style.

brainrot is something repetitive, mind numbing, or stupid. In a sense, the word brainrot itself is brainrot. Think of the new trends like "dih" and "huzz", those are all focused on taking the same word and warping it just so that its still understandable, ruining you if you see it anywhere else, like the people seeing among us everywhere.
I'm not familiar with these trends, I want the animations to be amusing and funny, but not repetitive and annoying.

Its not that, its more if you use it over and over to capture little kids attention span. I think the general rule of thumb is: if its loud, obnoxious and begs for you to like it, its brainrot. If its just a casual amount of memes its fine. Look at degenerocity versus tomsings, degen uses occasional memes but keeps it funny, tomsings just wants to hypnotise children

I thought that brain-rot was something completely different, maybe I'm from a different fandom set, but I know a lot of art people who use the word brain-rot to describe when they are super focused on something, like a ship between two characters, and the art they produce is their 'brainrot' or 'a product of their brainrot'

Well I wouldn't want to be considered that either, so I get your vibe there. But I dunno if that's so much a generation as a subculture. There are the rock dwellers like myself in every generation, but I still get your point.
I would just say, focus on making what you love to create, and make it as well as possible. Be clear in that, and don't worry so much about what people say about it. Half the time they don't have the slightest clue what they are talking about and/or just generally don't like the genre of stuff you create in. Thus don't have a particularly relevant or unbiased opinion.

I'm not joking. Nickelodeon just decided to take a perfectly good series that was supposed to end like 21 years ago just for the gosh dang money!
I mean look at this:
It's disgusting!
They took a perfectly good show and made it as annoying as possible! Such as the terrible animation and writing and also that annoying laughter that's used in like every single freaking newer episode and that annoying child-like behavior (he was less annoying in the classic seasons)! And there's also those cash grab spin-offs too that nobody likes despite the fact Stephen Hillenberg, creator of SpongeBob, didn't want any but Nickelodeon still went their greedy ways and made them anyways after Hillenberg died! Now that just feels disrespectful in my opinion!
And the worst part is that in real life, I have three annoying younger cousins and they mostly love SpongeBob, but mostly only the newer episodes and its cash grab spin-offs (don't think they have ever seen the classic episodes)! I say that because they think I love SpongeBob too when really I used to as a kid but I don't anymore! That's one of the reasons why they can be annoying sometimes! I would tell them but I really don't like talking to them is the thing! I'm sorry if that sounded pretty disrespectful or maybe off-topic too, I just wanted to get that off my chest somehow.
There's also The Loud House too which I also very much hate! Like why would I wanna watch a show featuring a thousand sisters fighting each other?! Just no!
And of course, there's Nickelodeon's YouTube channels. I'll just cut to the chase, they have these awful looking crossovers, and that's pretty much all I can say.

Disagree with the first half. If it has a soul and a heart, which it does, then it's not brain rot. They've just made too many good episodes and are running out of good topics to make a script of. Definitely agree with the 2nd half.

I consider brain rot to be modern content that requires little to no creativity to produce. The same rehashed jokes, memes, obnoxious imagery and sound effects, "prank" videos where the prank is just being weird, awkward or obnoxious to people. Also shorts that just steal other people's content and add annoying AI voice overs. I wouldn't consider it art in any way, its meant to engage people with low attention span and no desire for enrichment or learning.
Y not reverse the question like think about how my generation be clapped for brainrot but the adults now used to watch dank memes and mlg edits aka brainrot only difference is how much money is in low effort content ans not even that the cool part is with ai slop it now on surface appears as high quality content but only on surface brainrot is different but not make ur sun watch bluey instead i like bluey more than skibidi toilet fr though
