Mod Loader is confusing now.

Server I play on is on 1.13.2 but hope it goes into 1.14 to use the blocks for building

I use 1.8 because it is better for servers and PvP. I only play the newest MC version if I'm playing vanilla survival.

MCEdit Unified only works with 1.12.2 or earlier.

I dont play because Combat System

I have multiple reasons why I dont use 1.14:
- My server is 1.8
- Some of the plugins on my server dont exist for newer versions
- Some of my mods dont exist for newer versions
- My resource pack doesnt work on newer versions
- I hate 1.9+ combat (I do like dual wielding though)
- I like some of the commands in newer versions, but I hate how their tab completing works

Sometimes I play snapshots, that's the only reason I don't always play 1.14.4.

for me it's because I cannot for some stupid reason, can't make my texture pack work in 1.14 and I cannot figure out why.

i play 1.8-1.10 because i don't like the PvP added in 1.9. But I am kinda stuck here and the new command formats are confusing. I became an expert is using command syntax from 1.10 and lower. Basically it would be years of academy training wasted if I were to start making maps in 1.11+. I'd have to relearn everything that took me years to learn for 1.10 and lower.

I like 1.7.10 and 1.12.2
I have a 1.14.4 survival and that's really the only place I play it.

Closest answer I can give to the options given is "the mods". I use MCEdit regularly, I love importing stuff to my world and adding custom dungeons/treasure boxes in my worlds caves....but 1.13 is broken with mcedit. It's VERY frustrating to me, because I'm really enjoying all the cool new content in Minecrafts last few updates on the Xbox One, but I don't get to enjoy them on my single-player computer world...

I like the new updates except for the commands :/

I'm stuck using 1.12.2 because MorePlayerModels hasn't got updated since 2018.

first of all, 1.14 SUCKS for servers, second of all PvP is only good in 1.8.

Because I have yet to get a golden apple in my Alpha 1.2.4 world. Trying to do a completionist run. Missing that and a slime ball, but given up on it as I'm pretty sure slimes either are disabled or their spawn mechanic is buggy.

It's not that I hate the new updates, it's just I have been wanting to clear my backlog of stuff and me "beating" Minecraft the first time around is one of them. Soon as I do, I have plans on going to fight the Wither when it released then playing on the latest version since I adore the updates despite how utterly bad Survival is.

I'm a survivalist, the new version does not interest me much since my building skills have not improved since I first started playing.

There are actually multiple reasons for people going in 1.8, 1.9 or even 1.12 versions.

It's mostly because of loading, mods and more.

I have a friend who likes to play on 1.8.9 more because the chunks load better than the ones that load on 1.14.4. And myself plays some old versions sometimes because it doesn't take like half an hour for me to load the game and enter in a world.

At least i think that's why

The loading screen coveres the whole screen and the best mods haven't been updated to it.

And I don't like the commands, 1.12.2 is my fave version.

I really only play on other versions because of Mods and maybe 1.8 for the combat, Other wise I'm probably using the latest release of the game (1.14.4 as of the time this was made).

or if I really want to play on a specific server that has issues with latest updates/hasn't updated to the latest version then I'll probably use whichever one it was recently updated to.

A lot of servers that were created before the 1.9 combat update still work best on 1.8 or just don’t run on 1.14.4 whatsoever. Some people who have been playing the game for a very long time also prefer the simplicity and nostalgia of earlier versions, too.

I play on 1.8 as I like the old Combat Update where there is now attack cooldown along with my server (Prison, Skyblock & Survival) being playable on 1.8 all the way up to 1.14.

I play on 1.14.4 with fabric, which is a quite promising alternative to forge (mods AND optifine, yaaay), and the addition of more blocks is really helpful to vanilla mapmaking as you just have to retexture them instead of installing mods to get new blocks

The commands and compatibility with older mods/plugins make it easier for server owners. Plus the combat was better before swing-cooldowns were implemented.

I'm still on 1.12.2 for Chunky (Rendering) WorldPainter (Terraforming) and command syntax (I hate updating everything)
