Windows 10 vs Windows 7?
I was just wondering which OS you guys use and why.

I use Windows 10 as a daily driver on my PC because it's easier to do games with, but for my laptop (used for basic work + programming, basically just runs chromium, discord, + vs code), I use Ubuntu 18.10.
10 has security, better compatibility for games, and a better UI I feel. But once Valve Proton works on every game it's Ubuntu all the way.

I use Windows 10 with Linux as a dual boot. Here's why I use Win 10 over 7:
- Windows Mixed Reality support (cheap VR)
- Better performance/compatability of various programs
- Win 10 store for playing Xbox games
- Current Security updates
- Some built in quality-of-life changes
- Support for newest hardware (not quite a problem yet until Win 7 starts to age)

I have never seen one with such intellect!

Windows 10 only because my Windows 7 crashed from usage and old age.
3
i would say windows 7 but Microsoft is ending update support... i like my virus protection updates so windows 10
2
The only PCs I have the aren't running win 10 is my old laptop that I haven't touched in years. lol
2
I've used practically every OS since Windows 98. I used XP up to High School, while I then used Vista at home. I had Windows 7 on my first laptop and currently use Windows 10

Gotta love my XP

XP MASTER RACE!!!

Windows 7 has more of a fast, slicker design while Windows 10 is known to spy on people with Alexa, even when it's turned off.

10
because i have windows 10

Temple OS.

Linux? oh... ok... Right now I'm using Windows 10 but due to having issues thanks to the OS namely dual monitor support, I'm going to be transferring to Linux. Most everything I play is compatible on Linux, so I have no worries, and honestly I like the look of Linux better and the functionalities in comparison to Windows 10.
2
I've used Linux before, It was kinda hard to use tho.
2
All depends on the distro, though often Linux is a little more complicated than Windows 10, yes.
2
Honestly had no choice, my laptop and pc just kept notifying me, could not do anything, so I gave in, and then began the 4 hour windows 8-10 transfer. Looks better, and works slightly better, imo.
2
Although I myself generally prefer Windows 7, I use 10 since it's currently supported by Microsoft and many programs depend on it or Windows.
3
If i didn"t need it for compatibility with CAD programmes i wouldn"t use windows at all any more, 10 is awful
you don"t own a windows 10 computer, microsoft does, they have control over the system to an extent that should not be tolerated
anyone who does not absolutely need it would be better off using Linux instead

I'm with you on this.
Once you have installed win 10 it makes it a nightmare to even get into your system bios menu which to me is an absolute joke! It doesn't allow enough time for your computer to accept keystrokes before the windows logo appears. Why?!?!
It's also extremely bloated with all the embedded software, tools, bells and whistles, that most of us never use, need, or want. It seems incredibly inefficient especially for use in office and work environments where all this multimedia junk is not required and only serves as a distraction if anything. It's also quite hungry for resources from what I have seen. Support for older hardware and legacy software is often non-existent. There's also heaps of evidence to suggest that win 10 is effectively spyware and is supplying Mr gates and everyone he is in bed with heaps of data and a nice back door into peoples systems.
I shan't be upgrading my daily PC to win 10 any time soon even with the fear mongering currently surrounding win 7's end of life.
I think a lot of us would love for MS to release something like XP again. Just a simple stripped down OS with a basic interface, no tacky start menus, no BS cortana, no pointless animations, no bloaty tools and junk, just a basic OS with a simple GUI that does what we want it to do.

I don't mind the flashy animations but I hate all the annoying apps that they don't let you close.
2
I don't dislike them as such, I just think all the flashy stuff is just entirely pointless and a complete waste of processing power. Many of us want function over form. I don't want my OS to look tacky and colourful like a cheap child's toy at the expense of system resources.
XP used to have an option "Turn Off Unnecessary Animations" but on windows 10 the option now reads "Turn Off Unnecessary Animations (when possible)" - which suggests that in many cases the animations are forced upon you even if you turn them off.

Yea, I have all of them off so they don't slow down my pc.

You may want to explain how they control the systems in case others don't know about it and are too lazy to search it up.

Windows 10. Takes some getting used to, don't love it, but I live with it. Forces updates, which every once in a while break something on my computer(s) until they release a fix for it later on. I tried disabling them permanently using a tutorial but it re-enabled them.
Don't really like how Windows 8 looks but other than that it seemed fine.
Windows 7 had good functionality if I recall correctly, but is plain outdated (looks & features) for better or worse, and some programs don't support Windows 7.
As far as I can tell:
- Mac excels in ease of use / security / plenty features that come with the OS.
- Windows excels with having many programs supporting it and somewhat ease of use.
- Linux excels with cost (free), security (if you know what you're doing), and development.

I've never rlly had problems with windows 10, is it just hard switching?
