Hi guys, need a citizens expert here, this is a tough question.
Can you make npcs drop custom items? I understand you can make them drop their armour and stuff, but what about a custom item and not his armour? For instance, 1 gold ingot on death. Is this possible? Would love to have an answer

Would need to use a denizen script for each NPC you want to drop an item on death for. The following isn't complete, but should be enough for a good start.
Check out the Denizen's wiki-space for more info on the scripting language used.
